The Historic Districts Commission met on January 6, 1965, at 8:00 P. M.
in the Selectmen s Room, Town Office Building, Lexington, for an informal hearing.
Present were Donald R. Grant, Lhairman, Wilbur M. Jaquith, Philip B.
Parsons, George E. Graves and Ruth G. Bevan. In the absence of the Clerk,
notes were taken by Ruth Bevan.
Stop and Shop, Inc., representatives were Messrs. Crowley, Silver,
Fine and Sawyer. Mr. Ivan Douglas of Sanscott Corp. also attended the
meeting.
A colored perspective and scaled drawings of the Stop and Shop market
and adjoining stores on either side were shown the Commission and explained
by Mr. Fine and Mr. Silver. Also discussed was a tentative planf or the
Stop and Shop Market with out adjoining shops, Although to scale, these
drawings did not give details and elevations of all sides.
Mr. Sawyer presented drawings of the intended standing signs for the
area and recommendations were made on these. Also there was discussion of
the lighting fixtures to be used in the parking areas.
This hearing was closed at approximately 9:30 P .M. with tentative
plans for the Stop and Shop, Inc, to file application for advertisement
in the January 14 issue of the Minute-Man for a hearing about February 3.
Through Mr. Jaquith, MarkMoore submitted plans of proposed changes
to the house he is building at 44 Hancock Street. The Commission felt
that the changes in t he previously approved plans were substantial enough
to require another public hearing. Mr. Jaquith will notify Mr. Moore
that he will have to file application for this hearin .
