HomeMy WebLinkAbout1964-03-25 March 25, 1964 110 The Historic Districts Commission met at 8:00 P. M. on Wednesday, march 25, 1964, in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office muilding. Present were Donald R. Grant, Chairman, Philip B. Parsons, Secretary, Wilbur M. Jagxith, Ruth Bevan and George B. Graves. The purpose of the meeting was to reconvene for further discussion on the application of Raymond E. Boudreau, Trustee of the Rayco Realty Trust, for a certificate of appropriateness for a new building to be erected on Lot C on t he southeasterly side of Worthen Road, which is within t he Battle Green District. Also present at the meeting were Lester N. Lechter, Architect, and Raymond E. Boudreau. Mr. Lechter presented the commission w ith a Plot Plan which showed the proposed parking area at the rear of the building. Questions were asked by members of the commission. Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously VOTED that the commission issue a certificate of appropriateness to Raymond E. Boudreau, Trustee of Rayco Realty Trust, with respect to the erection of a store building on Lot C on the southerly side of Worthen Road, which is within the Battle Green District, The commission held further discussion on the application of Ellen M. Sullivan, doing business as Colonial Coffee House, for a certificate of appropriateness of a sign to be erected on the premises at 29 Depot Square, w hich is within the Battle Green District. Mrs. Sullivan and Mr. Leach, Architect, were present in this regard and presented the commission with a new drawing of the proposed sign. The commission members asked many questions. Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously VOTED that the commission issue a certificate of appropriateness to Ellen M. Sullivan with respect to the erection and display of a new sign across the front of the premises at 29 Depot Square, which is within the Battle Green District. Also present at the meeting was Mr. Edward M. Bridge, Architect, Richard Bridge, and Robert A. Bittenbender, Chairman of the Building Committee of The Church of Our Redeemer. Mr. Bridge showed the commission drawings of the proposed addition to the church. Mr. Bittenbender presented an application for a certificate of appropriateness. Hearing will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 1964, at 8:00 P. M. in the Town Accountant's Office• The chairman stated that he had also received an application for a certificate of appropriateness from Niles Company, Inc.
