HomeMy WebLinkAbout1963-11-06 November 6, 1963 The Historic Districts Commission met at the time and place specified in the public notice of the hearing on the application of The Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for a Certificate of Appropriateness for the exterior architectural features of the proposed church building to be erected at 1386 Massachusetts Avenue, which is within the Munroe Tavern District. Present were Donald R. Grant, C hai =man, Philip B. Parsons, Secretary, Ruth Bevan, George E. Uraves and Wilbur A. Jaquith. The chairman read the notice of the hearing and the letter of application dated Uctober 5, 1963. Also present in behalf of the application were Mr. Edward m. Bridge, Architect, Mr. Eugene F. Carter and Mr. Victor Witte. jhe applicant showed the commission various drawings of the proposed building and discussed plans in general and asked for an informal expression of opinion by the members of the commission. After discussion it was agreed that the matter would be continued for further hearing until January 8, 1963, at which time the church wished to present working drawings for consideration of the commission. '`t was also agreed that Mr. Carter would give the commission an extension of time in writing until January 15, 1964, to make decision on this application. Also present at tie meeting were Mr. 1 . w. Douglass of Sanscott Corporation, Mr. Norman Richards, Lawyer and rir. Arthur Schein of Sumner Schein & Associates, Architect, in behalf of Lexington Plaza Realty Trust, who appeared without prior arrangement to discuss the possible building which might be constructed on a portion of land at the junction of iorthen bad and Bedford Street. Mr. Wilbur M. Jaquith read a letter addressed to Associate Commissioner William B. hoyt regarding the air-conditioning units from General Electric Company. The letter is to be filed with the &pplication of Ruth P. Kugler. The Chairman read a letter received from Theatre camera, Inc. , for a certificPte of appropriateness for a sign at 1810 Massachusetts Avenue. Hearing will be held at 8:00p .
