HomeMy WebLinkAbout1963-09-18 September 18, 3963 The i~istoric Districts ~ommissioi~ met at the time. and place specif5ed in the public notice of the hearing on the application of j'he Roman ~atholie Archbishap of Boston, a Corporation Sole, for a Certificate of appropriateness for the erection of a school 6f religion building on property located at 1977 - 2401 Massachusetts Avenue, which is within the Battle Green District. Present were Donald x. Grant, Chairman, Philip Parsons, Secretary, George Graves and Wilbur M• Jaquith and A ssociate Commissioners haiph A. Burnham and William B. Boyt. 1'he chairman read the letter of application received from Rt. KEY. Ueorge Casey dated August 26, 1.963• Ht. Rev. George W. Casey and Chester r~. aright, Architect, were present at the hearing in behalf of the application. Mr. Wright presented the commission with scaled drawings and a colored perspective of the proposed building. various questions were asked by the manbers of the commission. The hearing was adjourned at x:2(3 P. M• fln motion made and. duly seconded, it was unanimously VOTED to grant to The Roman ~%atholic Archbishop of Boston, a ~rporation Sole, a certif icate of appropriateness with respect to the erection of a one-story building for a school of religious education at 1977 - 201 ~as.sach usetts Avenue, a portion of the building ~ being within the Battle Ureen District. Also present at the meeting was dir. ~ohn:~ugler representing Mrs. Huth P. Kugler with respect to her application for a certificate of appropriateness. Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was VOTED that Wilbur M. Jaquith be elected Chairman Pro fempore for the purpose of the adjourned meeting on Mrs. ~ugler~s hearing. Mr. Jaquith gave brief statements of the bac?~grovnd of the application. Mr. Bugler answered questions asked by the commission members. It was agreed that Mr. ~u.gler would contact the contractor regarding further details on the air- conditioning units. Another meeting will be held before "ctober 15, 1963, to further di scuss the application. Mr. Martin ~;i1mGx't was also present at the meeting. 't'he meeting was adjourned at lOslS Pte. i~.
