The Historic Districts commission met at the time and place
specified in the public notice of the hearing on the application
of Niles Co., Inc., for a Certificate of Appropriateness with
respect to the exterior architectural features of the proposed
apartment building and accessory structures on the premises on
Worthen Road, which is within the Battle Green District.
Present were Donald R. Grant, Chairman, Philip B. Parsons,
secretary, Ruth Bevan and Associate Commissioners Carl E. Bryant
and 'William B. Hoyt.
The chairman read the letter of application received from
Harry C. Caviston, dated July 15, 1963, and the letter from the
planning Board with its recommendation to the bard of Appeals.
Mr. Charles Cole, Architect, and Mr. Paul Boyd and Mr.
Lester Reed both representing Niles Co., Inc., appeared in behalf
of the application. Mr. 'ole presented the commission with a site
drawing, and the commission members viewed this as well as other
scaled drawings. He also showed the commission samples of aluminum
siding to be used on the buildings. various questions were a s�.ed
by the members of the commission. The hearing was adjourned at
9: 15 P. M.
on motion made and duly seconded, it was unanimously VOTED
to grant to Niles Co., Inc., a certificate of appropriateness
with respect to the exterior architectural features of six
apartment dwelling units to be constructed on the premises owned by
the applicant on Worthen Road, which is within the Battle Green
District.
It was stated that the commission had received a letter from
Ruth P. Kugler stating that she would grant an extension of time
in which to consider her application for a certificate of
appropriateness until October 15, 1963. This application will be
taken up at the next meeting of the commission on September 18,
1963, at 8:30 P. M.
It was stated that application has been received from The
Homan Catholic Archbishop of Boston, a Corporation S ole, for a
Certificate of Appropriateness. Hearing will be held at 8:00 p. M.
on Wednesday, September 18, 1963.
The meeting was adjournneedd at 10:30 p. M.
