The Historic Districts Commission met at the time
specified in the public notice of the hearing on the application
of Paul stetson for a certificate of appropriateness for
proposed alterations in the exterior architectural features
of the barn attached to the dwelling at 33 liancoc: s treet,
which is within the Hancock-Clarke District.
The notice of the hearing stated that the hearing would
be held in the Town Accountant s Office at 8:00 p. M. Mr.
Grant appeared at 8:00 P. M. and found no one interested in
the meeting of the nistoric Districts L'ommission and adjourned
the meeting to the conference room of 'ary Hall.
Present were Donald R. t*rant, chairman, Philip kJ . r arsons,
Secretary, Ruth Bevan, George E. Graves and ssociate
Commissioners Carl E. Bryant and William B. Hoyt.
The chairman read the letter of application received
from Mr. stetson. Mr. Paul Stetson appeared in his own behalf
in favor of the application, and presented the commission
with scaled drawings or the proposed changes and photgraphs
of the dwelling as it now exists. Questions were as_:ed by members
of the commission.
On motion made and duly seconded, it was unanimously
VOTED to grant to Paul Stetson a certificate of appropriateness
with respect to changes in the exterior architectural features
of the west elevation of the barn attached to the dwelling at
33 Hancock Street, which is within the 'iancock-Clarke District.
Mrs. Bevan stated that John E. mackleil, Trustee of the
Liberty Realty Trust, had mentioned to her that the board of
Appeals had required him to use Mutters on the second story
of his building. It was decided that the chairman would look
into this matter.
The question was raised regarding the non-conformance
of Lexington Cleansers with the certificate of appropriateness
issued by the commission on March 27, 1963 . It was agreed that
the chairman would notify the Board of Selectmen.
It was also indicated that David C . Pinkhaum has not as
yet painted the sign of Anna Phillips Restaurant white as
mentioned at his hearing on April 16, 1963.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:15 P. N.

Due to the inability of Commissioner Wilbur M .
Jaquith to act on the petition of Paul stetson, the
chair designates associate Commissioners Carl E. Bryant
and William B. Hoyt serve in this action
