HomeMy WebLinkAbout1963-02-27 February 27, 1963 The historic Districts Commission met at t e time and place • specified in the public notice of the hearing on the application of John F. MacNeil, Trustee of the Liberty Realty Trust, for a certificate of appropriateness for a proposed second story on the building at 19 Depot Square, which is within the B attle Green District. Present were Donald R. Grant, Chairman, PhilipB . Parsons, Secretary, Wilbur Jaquith, Ruth Bevan and ssociate Commissioners Carl E. Bryant and Ralph A . Burnham, Mr. Jaquith was present during the discussion of Rayco realty Trust and Lexington Cleansers and Dyers but took no part in the consideration of the MacNeil application. Mr. Burnham took no part in the consideration of the Rayco Realty Trust application. The chairman read the letter received from the applicant. Appearing in behalf of the application were JohnF. MacNeil eil and L. Harry Erickson, Architect. Mr. Erickson showed the commission scale drawings of the proposed building. various questions were asked by the commission members. The hearing was adjourned at 5:30 P. M. After considerable discussion, it was decided to ask rlr. Erickson and Mr. MacNeil to meet with the commission at 7:30 P. M. on Tuesday, March 12, 1963, in the Town Accountantts office to further discuss the application and consider new drawings. Also present at the meeting were Raymond g Budreau, Tcustee of Rayco Realty Trust and Mr. Lester B. J-+echter, Architect. Mr. Lechter stated that they were not able to use the air- conditioning unit as described in the certificate of appropriate- ness 'Issued Rayco Realty Trust. The chairman requested that Mr. Lechter obtain drawings for the commission showing the exact spacing of the proposed units. A public heaping will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 1963, in the Selectmen s Room. Also present at the meeting was Mr. Russell Carroll, d/b/a Lexington Cleansers & Dyers, who stated that his sign at 1806 Massachusetts Avenue, which had been denied by the commission on September 15, 1960, had been recently painted with a change of color. i1e commission embers viewed the slide of the original sign. It was decided that it would be necessary to hold a hearing on the sign as it now exists. Bearing will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 1963, in the Selectmen s R,om.
