The Historic Districts Commission met at the time and place
specified in the public notice of the hearing on the application of Horseshoe

• the premises at 7 - 9 Muzzey Street, and to add to the existing structure
at said location. Fresent were Donald X. Grant, 'hairman, Philip E. Parsons,
Secretary, Xdwin B. Worthen, Jr. , Donald E. Legro, and Cyrus wood.
the chairmen read the letter received from Arvin n, hlaa"ke president,
Horseshoe Forge Realty, Inc..*. and the published notice. the applicants
presentation was made by Mr. Tito t.ascieri and Mr. Dean X. Nicholson, who
spoke in behalf of the application. Mr. 4 iarl6s h. tole spoke in favor
of the application, 'questions were asked by various members of the
commission, also by Mr. Frederick Johnson, Dr. Clifford b. Hunt, and Mr.
Tucker, who represented himself as a prospective tenant of the premises.
On motion made and duly seconded, it was unanimously voted to grant
to Horseshoe Forge Realty, Inc., a permit to demolish the existing wooden
buildings at the rear of the premises at 7 - 9 Muzzey otre t, which is
within the Battle Green District.
On further motion made and duly' seconded, it was unanimously voted
to grant a certificate of appropriateness on the application of horseshoe
Forge Realty, Inc., to add to the existing structure in accordance with
a preliminary study prepared by Tito Lascieri, revised as of April 30,
1960, and in accordance with a colored prospective presented by Mr.
Cascieri at the hearing, with the condition that the doors and window
sash, but not including the trim or casings, if used, be painted barn red
or such other color as the commission may approve, and the body of the
building including the cornice, motif and trim be sainted white or such
other color as the commission shall approve; except where white is used,
all color samples shall be submitted and approved by Philip p arsons or
such other member of the commission as may be designated by the chairman
for the purpose.
Mr. Robert L. Blanchard appeared before the commission at 9100 P. M.
apropos of the dwelling at 1310 Massachusetts Avenue. at this time Mr.
Arnold E. Howard at on the commission in place of Donald x. Grant. Ronald A.
Legro acted as Qhairmen Pro Tempore. Questions were asked by various members.
A motion was made that a certificate of appropriateness be granted
to Ft obert L. Blanchard to erect a building in accordance with plans submitted
to the commission on June 1, 1960, on condition that the window added in the
east elevation be eliminated. Since the motion was not seconded, it was
withdrawn.
Further motion was duly made and seconded that a certificate of
appropriateness be denied on the application of Robert L. Blanchard to erect
a building in accordance with plans submitted to the commission on June 1,
1960. The vote teen vas in favor of the motion.
