The Historic Distriots Odlmission held a public hearing Wednesday, June 10,1959
in the Selectmen's Room on the application of Harry J.Cassidy for L.M.Peabody Co.
for a sertifioate for the erection of a sign at 25 Depot Sq.Lexington which is
within the Battle Green District. Sitting on the Commission were Dexter A.Smith,
Chairman, Edwin B.Worthen, Jr., Philip B.Parsons, Donald R.Grant and Associate
Member Arnold E.Howard. Also present was Mr. Burnham.
Mr.Smith read the notioe. Mr. Cassidy submitted a sketch of the sign and also
pictures of the present Leeland Realty signs. He wants a wood sign, approximately
12'3' x 40" high, without molding. He wants to paint this *ream background with
maroon lettering, with the oolors as olose to the Leeland Realty sign as possible.
Be wants this sign to blend right in with the Leeland sign.There are already-lights
outside now,
MEETING: After a short disoussion, it was voted: VOTE: It was unanimously voted
to issue a certificate of appropriateness to Mr. Cassidy for the ereotion of a
sigh at 25 Depot Sq.Lexington and the Chairman was directed to sign the Certificate
of Appropriateness as prepared.
Mrs.Thomas was authorised to buy white paper and also to order 500 stamped
printed envelopes.
Following this hearing and also following the seoond hearing, there was soar
discussion on the Han000k Congregational Church's application for a new hearing.
