December 8, 1980
The discussion meeting of the Lexington Planning Board was called to order at
7:37 p.m. by the Chairmap.Mrs. Wheaton, with members Friedman, Nichols, Sandy, Sorensen,
Planning Director Bowyer and Assistant Planner Asen present.
APPLICATION TO BOARD OF APPEALS:
Upon review of the recommendations of the staff on petitions to be heard on
December 18, 1980, it was unanimously voted to make no recommendations on the
applications re:
1734 MasAve...AveAve.Goody's To Go, Special Permit, Take Out Food Service
222 Lincoln Street, Simon Prensky, Variance, Front yard
5 Ra Mond Street, Winfield Couette, Special Permit, Sign
150 East Street, Doran Greenhouse, Renew Special Permit, Nursery and Roadside Stand
Regarding the petition of J/G Home Builders and the Corazzini's for a Special Permit
for a cluster development, the Planning Board staff is preparing a draft report
for the meeting of December 15, 1980
APPOINTMENTS - PROPOSED RE -ZONING ARTICLES FOR 1981 ANNUAL TOWN MEETING
Spaulding & Slye, Cosgrove land, Hartwell Ave. and Wood Street
The Planning Board met with Richard Dobroth and Sam Altrauder of Spaulding & Slye
to discuss the proposed zoning of the Cosgrove land on Hartwell Ave. and Wood St.,
from an RO to aCD zoning district. The petitioners propose to build multi -tenant,
' low rise office buildings on the site. Mrs. Nichols said that office development
was the correct use of the land but would not support the rezoning at this time
because of the traffic problems in the area. Mr. Sandy said that he would not
support the rezoning because of the traffic problems and the effect of a Proposition
on the rezoning of land in Town.
Melvin Kutchin, 32 Muzzey Street
The Planning Board met with Melvin Kutchin to discuss the proposed rezoning of
32 Muzzey Street from an RS to a CD zoning district. Mr. Kutchin proposed to
renovate the existing dwelling to an office building in order to relocate his
business from Marrett Road. Mr. Sorensen said that he would not support the
rezoning because of the need of residential dwellings near the center of Town.
Mrs. Nichols said that she would not support the rezoning until a study is done on
a transition zone for the center business district.
Fred Conroy, DeVincent land, Waltham Street
The Planning Board met with Fred Conroy, Charles Cole and Arthur
discuss the proposed rezoning of Mr. DeVincent's land on Waltham
RO to an RD zoning district. They propose to construct a total
units on the site. Mr. Friedman said that he wbuld have a more
to the project than last year and to consider the development on
considering the future rezoning of the adjacent properties.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:15 P.M.
