71. ARTICLES FOR 1982 TOWN MEETING
Article 51, Hennessey Land: The Board reviewed the citizen's articleeto convey the
Hennessey recreation land to the Housing Authority for subsidized housing. (At its
meeting on March 31, 1982, the Board agreed unanimously to oppose the transfer.)
w Points raised included: 1) while the site is quite adaptable for housing construc-
tion, the location is not good. It is remote from public transportation, shopping,
and other services except for school and recreation; 2) the two streets providing
access are inadequate; Robinson Road is about 1300' long and is narrow, with about
14' of paving in some locations, and Mountain Road is also narrow, with 12-14 feet
of paving; and 3) attempting to extend Mountain Road may create legal access prob-
lems in relation to the Paint Mine conservation area.
Article 61, Hartwell Avenue and Wood Street: Mr. Bowyer reported on a meeting with
Julian Bussgang and changes that he suggested be made in the proposed site develop-
ment and use plan. Mr. Sorensen expressed concern about delays in having a final
plan and the Planning Board's opportunity to complete its report. He suggested
that the proponents consider deferring the article until the next Town Meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
