HomeMy WebLinkAbout1980-02-11PLANNING BOARD MEETING February 11, 1980 The meeting of the Lexington Planning Board was called to order at 7:35 p.m. by the chairman Dr. Friedman with members Sandy, Wheaton, Nichols, Zabin, and administrative clerk Mrs. Snow present. Also in attendance were Charles Downe, planning consultant and Peter DiMatteo, Building Commissioner. Board of Appeals members Mrs. Morey and Mr. Brodhead were present for dis- USE VARIANCE cussion of the Use Variance Article 64. The Board of Appeals was asked ART. 64 to present the Article as worded, allowing use variances but it did not appear that that Board would be willing to do so. If the Article is to be presented by the Planning Board, a motion will be made to exclude the grant- ing of use variances. Mrs. Morey suggested amendment of the Article (to be presented by the Planning Board) so that the wording complies exactly with Chapter 808 text. John McWeeney, Stop and Shop Companies, was present to submit a substitute STOP & SHOP proposal for Article 73 (Stop & Shop additional parking to CD). The ART. 73 plan decreases aisle widths, enlarges the green belt and eliminates three spaces in the new parcel. The immediate abuttor would be buffered by a fence and plantings and the fence fronting on Bedford Street would be lowered from six feet to four feet. If rezoning is granted for the new parcel, a gross total of 203 spaces will result. Paul Castleman's January 38, 1980, letter requesting reduction of surety on MOUNTAIN RD. ' Mountain Road (Colbotirne subdivision) and Town Engineer Hanlon's 2/11/80 SURETY memorandum listing completed work items and recommending retention of $6,242.50, were noted. Upon a motion duly made and seconded, it was unani- mously VOTED: To accede to the request of Paul A. Castleman that surety for Mountain Road, Colburne subdivision be reduced from $17,550 to $6,250, as recommended by Michael J. Hanlon, Town Engineer. The Board discussed Shaker Glen Brook multi -family housing proposals of the SHAKER GLEN Winn Development Corporation as presented at public hearings on February 6. RD/RM Four abuttors were present. The developers will be asked to meet with the Board on February 19, at 9 p.m., at which time the Board will recommend revision to the hydrology system and reduction in density. William Smith was present to discuss changes to the plan for Potter Pond POTTER POND as required by the Town Engineer's 2/11/80 memo. The plans will be revised and submitted within the week. Mr. Downe's draft supplemental report of the Planning Board to the Board of Appeals was reviewed, revised and unanimously approved as revised. Schedule of interviews by the Planning Board of planning director candidates was discussed. Three candidates will be interviewed on February 21st at PL. DIRECTOR 8 p.m. INTERVIEWS Notices of Board of Appeals hearings on February 21 were reviewed. The Planning Board will make no written comments on the petitions.
