HomeMy WebLinkAbout1977-01-241 PLANNING BOARD MEETING January 24, 1977 The meeting of the Lexington Planning Board was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by the chairman Mr. MacKenzie with members Friedman, Zabin, Brown, Clarke, planning director Briggs, and secretary Mrs. Snow present. Also in atten- dance was Stephen Politi, Lexington Minute -Man. The minutes of January 3, 1977, were approved as written. Mr. MacKenzie's draft Planning Board policy statement concerning planningPOLICY RE staff dealings with prospective developers, as discussed on January 17, DEALINGS WITH was read and discussed as to content. The draft was approved as amended.DEVELOPERS The schedule for regular meetins of the Planning Board was considered. MT. SCHEDULE It was agreed to post meetings for February 7, 14, and 28, 1977. Addi- tional meetings will be scheduled if deemed necessary. Public Hearing for the rezoning Article initiated by the Lexington Hous- LHA REZONING ing Authority for land at Countryside was scheduled for February 23 at COUNTRYSIDE 8 p.m. in Cary Memorial Hall. Ralph Hall's sketch plan for land at North St., previously discussed on January 17, was reviewed for the benefit of Mr. Zabin. It was agreed that Mr. Hall should be advised to proceed with formal submission of a preliminary subdivision plan based on the layout concept as shown. NORTH ST.PLAN RALPH HALL Public Hearing on the definitive plan for "Powers Village" subdivision PUBLIC HEAR - was opened at 8 p.m. and at 8:43 p.m., was adjourned to 7:45 p.m. on ING"POWERS January 31, 1977, for review at that time of proposed contour plan VILL."SUBDV. which had not been supplied by the developer. The following will be proposed regarding the renaming of sections of EMERSON & Emerson and Worthen roads: Emerson Rd. near Angier and Diamond roads: WORTHEN RDS. North Emerson Rd; Emerson Rd. at Suzanne and Brent roads: Brent Rd; Emerson Rd. at Maple St.: Emerson Gardens Rd; Emerson Rd. from East to Adams streets: no change; Emerson Rd. at Maureen Rd.: no change because of possibility of connection with Emerson Rd. at East St. Worthen Rd. at Goffe Rd: Worthen Rd. East. It was suggested that no change in house numbering, except for three single-family residences on "Emerson Gardens Rd.", will be necessary. A letter will be sent to all residents affected by the proposed changes, requesting comments on the proposals. Inadequate press coverage of Planning Board meetixgs,subject of confer- PL.BD. PRESS ence of the chairman with the editor of the Lexington Minute -Man, was RELATIONS discussed with respect to public relations and dissemination of infor- mation on Planning Board activities. The Planning Board expects that the editor will make effort to remedy the situation by having a reporter in attendance at future Planning Board meetings. Mr. Zabin's draft letter to the editor responding to published letters OPEN MEETING concerning obligations of the Planning Board under the Open Meeting Law, LAW was reviewed. The letter, to be published on February 3, 1977, in the Lexington Minute -Man was approved as amended.
