LEXINGTON PLANNING BOARD
March 25, 1974
The meeting of the Lexington Planning Board was called to order at
7:30 p.m. by the chairman Dr. Clarke with members L. Brown, S.Brown,
Costello, MacKenzie, planning director Briggs and secretary Mrs. Snow
present.
The Board reviewed a plan submitted by Norman May, Esq. with Appl.
Form A74-9. Mr. Briggs made reference to a variance granted by the
B/A on Oct. 16, 1973 and explained the plan. Upon a motion duly made
and seconded, it was VOTED:
That the plan entitled "Plan of Land in Lexington, Mass.",
dated August 29, 1973, by Miller & Nylander, submitted by
Norman May, Esq. for Joseph Gassman, showing Lots 186A and
186B on Whipple Rd. requires no approval under the Sub-
division Control Law, and that the Planning Director be
authorized to sign the plan on behalf of the Planning Board
on the condition that it is endorsed with a notation in-
dicating that Lot 186B is not to be used as a separate
building lot.
A plan submitted with Appl Form A74-10, by Norman May, Esq. showing
land at 419 Marrett Rd. and B/A variance granted on Feb. 19, 1974
were reviewed. Upon a motion duly made and seconded, it was VOTED:
The plan entitled "Plan of Land in Lexington, Mass.", dated
March 6, 1974, by Miller & Nylander, submitted on March 15,
1974, by Norman May, Esq. on behalf of Curtin Realty Trust,
showing Pt. Lot 230A, 230B, and Parcel A on Marrett Rd.
requires no approval under the Subdivision Control Law.
The plan was so endorsed by members of the Board.
The Board reviewed a plan submitted by Mr. May with Appl. Form A74-11,
showing land of Cheever on Bedford St. B/A variance granted on
Oct. 3, 1967, was noted. Upon a motion duly made and seconded, it
was VOTED:
The plan entitled "Plan of Land in Lexington, Mass.", dated
Feb. 26, 1974, by Miller & Nylander, submitted on March 15,
1974, by Norman May, Esq. for Wilbur & Edith Cheever, with
Appl. Form A74-11, showing Lot A-1, Parcel A-2, and Parcel D
at 268 Bedford St., requires no approval under the Subdivision
Control Law.
The plan was so endorsed by members of the Board.
Next on the agenda was reorganization of the Planning Board, as
' legally required following election of a new member. The follow-
ing nominations were made and seconded: Dr. Clarke for chairman,
Mr. Brown for vice-chairman, Mr. MacKenzie for clerk. All were
elected unanimously.

Mrs. Briggs' draft on the Flintlock rezoning proposal was reviewed. FLINTLOCK
Suggestion was made that the March 15th letter received from Massport
re aircraft noise be referenced within the report. Dr. Clarke will
prepare an amended report, including the Massport statement.
A draft by Mr. Briggs on the Piper Ridge RM proposal was reviewed. PIPER RIDGE
The members asked that data on number of schoolage children, drainage
plans, and amount of traffic generated by the adjacent Temple Emunah
be obtained. Several amendments and editorial changes were agreed
upon. The draft will be prepared in final form by Dr. Clarke and
Mr. Briggs.
Mrs. Frick, Mrs. Rawls, and Mr. Williams, Conservation Comm., met CONS. COMM.
with the Board at 10 p.m. to explain Cons. Comm. Articles 46- 58, ARTICLES
and obtain Planning Board view on each. Planning Board support 46-58
of all the abovementioned Articles, excepting Art. 48, pending
resolution of L.H.A. decision on the tax -title lot on Bowker St.,
was voted unanimously.
The Devito petition, still under consideration by the B/A, DE VITO B/A
(hearing 3/19) was discussed, and payment of sewer betterments by
VALLEYFIELD
the DeVito's on the Valleyfield St. lot since 1965, was noted. A
letter is to be drafted by Dr. Clarke reiterating Planning Board
opposition to granting of the variance sought.
Mrs. Brown reported on her attendance at the hearing in Boston on HB 2856
House Bill 2856 (Burlington access) on March 25, 1974. BURL. ACCESS

The members considered the question of whether tax -title lot #316
TAX TITLE LOT
on Bowker St. should be included among potential scattered site
housing lots or left among those listed in Cons. Comm. Article 48
BOWKER ST.

for Town acquisition. It was agreed that a letter be sent to the
ART. 48
Conservation Commission suggesting that Lot 316 be withdrawn from
the Article pending decision by the L.H.A. as to its suitability for
construction of low income housing.
Mrs. Brown's draft of Planning Board report on Articles 36 & 37
CAMPER ART.
(Camping Vehicles) was reviewed and revision and additions were con-
sidered.It was voted that the report was approved as amended.
Report on the Drummer Boy Green proposal (Art. 105/106) was reviewed.
Additional data and several corrections were discussed. Mr. Briggs

and Dr. Clarke will prepare a draft in final form based upon this
discussion.
