HomeMy WebLinkAbout1973-09-17PLANNING BOARD MEETING ' September 17, 1973 The meeting of the Lexington Planning Board was calted to order at 7:30 p.m. by the chairman Dr. Clarke with members L. Brown, Graham, Costello, S. Brown, and Secretary Mrs. Snow present. Also in attendance were Mary Sepucha, LWV, Frank Sandy, CLC, John Frey, DAC, and Donald Irwin, Building Inspector. The minutes of Planning Baord meeting of September 4, 1973, were approved as written. The Board reviewed the petition and plans for additional construction at the W. R. Grace Co. facility on Hayden Ave. (F & D hearing on Sept. 25), and arrived at recommendations to be included in a draft to be prepared by the planning director. W.R.GRACE F&D Discussion of Johnson Bros., Inc. petition and plans for greenhouse construction (B/A hearing for special permit to be held on Sept. 25) JOHNSON BROS. followed. Dr. Clarke read a portion of Section 5 of the Zoning GREENHOUSES B/A Enabling Act, regarding non -conforming land use and agricultural ex- emption. Recommendation re setback requirements and visual impact of the construction on abuttors were discussed. A letter reflecting Planning Board recommendations for conditions if the permit is granted will be drafted by Mrs. Brown and the B/A will be given a copy of this draft prior to the 9/24 meeting of the Planning Board. Mr. Roland Greeley met with the Board at 8:20 p.m. Content of Mrs. BICENTENNIAL Brown's draft #2 of a memo to the Selectmen re provision of tourist TOURIST FACIL. facilities for the Bicentennial summers of '75 and '76 was reviewed and revised. Mrs. Brown will edit the revised draft for distribution to members before Thursday. Mr. Irwin participated in discussion of regulatory procedures and necessary services if camping vehicles are to be permitted. Parking was discussed in its relationship to other land use mentioned in the memo. The Plannhg Board is to meet in joint session with the Selectmen on 9/24 for discussion of policy recommendations in response to a request from the Bicentennial Committee (memo dated Sept. 12, 1973). Mrs. Brown informed the Board of an MAPC sponsored "Fair Housing" to be held on October 2 at Faneuil Hall, Boston. More complete information wukk be dustrubuted to the members.
