PLANNING BOARD MEETING
April 29, 1972
The meeting of the Lexington Planning Board was called to order at 10:00 a.m.
by the chairman Mrs. Brown with members Clarke, S. Brown, Graham and planning
director Zaleski present.
Announcement was made of the annual meeting of the Mass. Federation of Planning
Boards on May 12 & 139 1972, at Holiday Inn, Newton, Mass. Mrs. Brown plans MASS. FED.
to attend these meetings. PL. BDS. MTG
Mr. Zaleski's draft of a reply to the Lexington Pediatric Assoc., regarding LEX. PED.
parking on Muzzey St., was discussed and changes recommended by the members. ASSOC.
Dr. Clarke agreed to revise the letter for consideration by the Board on PARKING
May 1, 1972.
A meeting of the Planning Board with the Board of Selectmen on May 8, 1972, MBTA EXTENS.
at 8:30 p.m. in the Selectmen's Meeting Room regarding the rapid transit ex-
tension to and beyond the Alewife Brook Parkway, has been scheduled and Messrs.
Bowyer, Planning & Development Dir., Cambridge, Young, Director of Planning
& Development, Arlington, Hopkinson, BTPR and Ms. Osdoby, BTPR, will be in-
vited to attend. Mr. Graham informed the Board of the contract expiration
for B&M RR and M&B Bus Lines as of June 30, 1972.
The planning director's suggestion for comments at theCLC meeting on May ll, CLC MEETING
1972, were reviewed. The role played by the golf courses in the overall OPEN SPACE
open space program was discussed at some length and the possibilities for
the future diversion or expansion of Pine Meadows and Lexington Golf Club
considered. The projections of open space and future population were re-
viewed. The Board agreed that the "aggregate point system" may be a useful
approach to the evaluation of relative importance of various panels.
The draft work program for 1972, prepared by the planning director, was 1972 WORK
discussed insofar as the procedures of the Planning Board in handling writ- PROGRAM
ten communications are concerned. This discussion and the consideration of
the 1972 work program in general will be continued on Monday, May 1, 1972.
The meeting adjourned at 12:30 p.m.
