HomeMy WebLinkAbout1970-06-08PLANNING BOARD MEETING June 8, 1970 The regular meeting of the Planning Board was held in its temporary office location in the Legion Room in the Cary Memorial Building on Monday, June 8, 1970 at 7:30 p.m. Chairman Lund opened the meeting with members Clarke, Brown, Graham, Worrell and Planning Director Zaleski and Planning Intern O'Neil present. Mrs. Elizabeth Flynn met with the Board at 7:30 p.m. to discuss the future use of Haroian land located on Concord Ave. and the Cannizzo- Hamilton land on the ledges between Rte. 2 and Concord Ave. A public hearing on the Idylwilde subdivision definitive plan was held in Cary Hall at 8:00 p.m. Mr. Robert Cass presented the pro- posed plan and answered questions asked by some of the ten people attending the hearing. Further discussion of the drainage problem and the connecting of the developer's drain with the drain which now runs under Marrett Rd. but is too high for proper drainage. No one spoke in favor nor in opposition. A preliminary subdivision plan of land of Benjamin Franklin Homes, Inc. betwwen Woburn and Maple Streets, showing 180 acres more or less and showing 206 new lots, was submitted to the Planning Board. The planning director was asked to inform the Town Manager of the submission of this plan. The planning director reported the postponement of the posting with ' the Town Clerk of the Board of Appeals decision on the Almarjo Realty permit concerning a finding and determination and variance regarding parking requirements which was granted on May 26, 1970. He also reported that Mr. Douglass had met with him and was reluctant to change the plans for the proposed office building on Militia Drive and that the Board of Appeals had requested the services of Mr. Legro in this matter. It was suggested the Board take no action until the decision is posted with the Town Clerk and the planning director was asked to write a letter to the Board of Appeals recommending specific figures as to size of building and the parking area required. John Culp and Messrs. Perkins and Brigham of Justin Gray Associates met with the Board next to discuss the format of the next two public meetiny concerned with the Meagherville study area. Mr. Culp sub- mitted for the Board's approval a list of proposed questions to be distributed at these meetings. It was decided to ask a Town Meeting member from the Meagherville neighborhood to be moderator rather than a member of the consultant's group. The draft of a letter to the Board of Appeals regarding the proposed Chalet Susse sign was read, discussed and approved. The meeting adjourned at 10:55 p.m. Eric T. Clarke Clerk E. FLYNN RE.
