HomeMy WebLinkAbout1968-05-27PLANNING BOARD MEETING IMay 27, 1968 A regular meeting of the Lexington Planning Board was held in its office, Town Office Building on Monday, May 27, 1968. The meeting was called to order at 9:05 p.m., by Chair- man, Mrs. Riffin following the public hearing on zoning re - codification. Members Clarke, Lund, Worrell and Planning Director Zaleski were present. Messrs. Sussman, Smith, Brown and Mazerall of the ACQUISITION Conservation Commission met with the Board to discuss the OF LAND proposed acquisition of lots 99 and 129, assessor's map 83, containing a total of 10 acres, for $24,000 as listed under Article 16 of the Warrant for the Special Town Meeting on June 3, 1968. Member Worrell abstained from the deliberation and vote on the above plan. The tentative summer schedule, as appended hereto, was SUMMER approved subject to changes depending on the pressure of SCHEDULE business and availability of a quorum. Warrant articles were then discussed as follows: WARRANT ARTICLES Under Article 2 the Board agreed to support the ENGINEERING hiring of some additional personnel for the engineering PERSONNEL division. Under Article 3 it was agreed to offer an amend- STRUCTURE OF ment to retain an elected Planning Board with vacancies GOVERNMENT filled as provided under G.L. Chapter 41, Section 11, and with the appointment of the Planning Director being subject to Planning Board approval. Mr. Sussman then stated that the Conservation Com- UTICA ST. LAND mission supports the acquisition of the remaining Steeves land off Utica St. The question of development of the Old Reservoir OLD RESERVOIR for swimming was discussed briefly. Minutes of Planning Board meeting of May 20, 1968 MINUTES were reviewed and approved as amended. Plan submitted with Form A application #68-16 was FORM A #68-16 reviewed by members of the Board and upon a motion duly APPLICATION made and seconded it was unanimously VOTED. That approval under the subdivision Control Law is CEDAR ST. not required of the plan entitled "Landcourt Subdivision, WORRELL Plan of Land," dated May 6, 1968, by Joseph W. Mr. Eric Kula came OLD in at that time and informed the Board of the status of RESERVOIR this Article pertaining to the use of the Old Reservoir for swimming. Mr. Kula intends to ask for $30,000 for the construction of a swimming facility there. The Board agreed that this would be a desirable recreational develop- ment, if it can be built at a reasonable cost. Article 10 was reviewed next and amendments as ZONING listed in the Appendix agreed upon. CODIFICATION Selectmen Cole and Cataldo and Executive Assistant UTICA ST. Gray met with the Board to discuss Article 9 (Acquisition LAND of land off Utica St.) A letter from the Superintendent of Public Works UNDERG relative to underground wiring for lights in subdivisions WIRING was read and noted.
