HomeMy WebLinkAbout1968-02-05PLANNING BOARD MEETING IFebruary 5, 1968 A regular meeting of the Lexington Planning Board was held in its office, Town Office Building, on Monday, Feb- ruary 5, 1968. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Mrs. Riffin with members Fowle, Greeley and Worrell, and Planning Director Zaleski present. Plan submitted with Form A application #68-5, as fol- lows, was examined and it was decided to refer it to the Town Counsel for determination whether lots marked 21 and 22 con- stitute one or two lots within the meaning of the Zoning By - Law (see below, these minutes). FORM A #685, submitted February 1, 1968 by Dean E. Nicholson, Atty.; plan entitled "Plan of Land in Lexington, Mass." Nicholson dated 1/13/67, by Miller & Nylander, C.E.'s & Surveyors. Revision of article permitting apartments in C 2 districts proposed by the Town Counsel were reviewed and STREETS the manner of designating major streets discussed at some length. ' Messrs. Storer, Tryon and Brock met with the Board to discuss the citizens' proposal to purchase lands in the Mason LAND ACQUISITION St. (Peacock Farms, Sec. VI) subdivision. The purposes - MASON ST. AREA (accessto recreation area and possible future road) were ex- plained by Mr. Storer. Mr. Greeley questioned whether the two parcels and the two purposes could be separated in such a manner as to permit separate vote on each. Mr. Fowle ob- jected to the road concept and Mr. Storer enumerated the past events which'in his opinion indicated the intention of the town to build a road in this location. Attorney Harold Stevens met with the Board relative to the proposed rezoning to CS of land at Bedford St. Mr. Stevens REZONING TO CS specifically questioned the 100 ft. setback (from the base BEDFORD ST. line) in CS districts for parking facilities and gasoline pumps. On motion of Mr. Greeley the Board voted to change the article to provide that uses in front yard shall occupy not more than 50% of front yard area with gasoline pumps and accessories thereto and parking facilities, the last two being at least 100 ft. from the baseline of Bedford St. This change would be made if acceptable to the Town Counsel at this time. Draft of a letter to accompany M & E report prepared by Mr. Greeley was read and discussed next. It was decided to M&E REPORT have members review the draft at home and comment next week. ' The Board voted unanimously to recommend that the acceptance of any portion of Ingleside Rd. be postponed INGLESIDE RD. until the entire road is completed. 2-5-68 Mr. Fowle agreed to look into the matter of acquisition D'AUGUSTA LAND of D'Augusta land and took for study the opinion of value report for this parcel of land. STATE HOUSE Schedule of public hearings in the State House was HEARINGS noted and referred to the Planning Director. WHEELER RD. Letter from P. Wiederhold to the Building Inspector relative to truck parking on Wheeler Rd, was noted and placed on file. CORRESPONDENCE Letter from residents of the Peacock Farm area object- ing to the proposal of Storer et al to have town buy land Peacock Farm along Sickoe Brook for a possible road was read. Subdivision sts. Copies of subdivision street acceptance articles pre- pared by the Town Counsel were noted and placed on file. STRUCTURE OF Possible amendments to the proposal of the Structure GOVERNMENT of Government Committee were discussed nest. Mr. Legro met with the Board and advised the Board TOWN COUNSEL that in his opinion the building of a house across a lot line between two 50 ft. lots recorded prior to zoning FORM A consolidates them into one lot which may not be reduced. Nicholson The Board then voted unanimously that the plan submitted with Form A #68-5 entitled "Plan of Land in Lexington, Mass.", dated 1/13/67, and submitted by Dean E. Nicholson, Atty., requires approval under the Subdivision Control Law. The meeting adjourned at 10:40 p.m. Francis T. Worrell Clerk 4 1 1
