HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-09-25PLANNING BOARD MEETING ' September 25, 1967 A regular meeting of the Lexington Planning Board was held in its office, Town Office Building, on Monday, September 25, 1967. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Chairman Greeley with members Fowle, Lund, Riffin, Worrell, and Planning Director Zaleski present. Minutes of meeting of September 18, 1967, were MINUTES approved with some changes. News release prepared by Mr. Zaleski was discussed briefly; in view of major changes offered by Mrs. Riffin, NEWS RELEASE the matter was postponed for one week. Mr. Lund reported on his conversation with the Town P.U.D. Counsel relative to the grant of easements in planned unit developments and the legal problems involved. Mr. George B. Johnson met with the Board to discuss MASTER PLAN the progress of long range financial study and circulation components of the Master Plan. Mr. Donald Legro, Town Counsel, came in to discuss P.U.D. the conveyance of open lands in planned unit developments and the Board postponed until later in the evening the re- view of Mr. Johnson's circulation proposals in order to take up the problem of open space grants with Mr. Legro. As a temporary solution it was decided that the Town should accept all open space in Outhet's Conestoga Rd. subdivision and that the Town Counsel will study the possible approaches for a permanent resolution of the problem. The Board then resumed the discussion of circulation CIRCULATION PLAN plan. The Board was not in agreement with the consultant's proposals for the relocation of Harrington Rd. and for the general re-routing of center traffic. The Board was also ' opposed to the proposed connection of Emerson Rd. to Mass. Ave. near Tower Park for the reason that this would en- courage the use of Emerson Rd. by through traffic. Several other modifications were recommended by members of the Board. Mr. Zaleski reported that the 3.2t acres of land ESSARIAN LAND Essarian had offered to the town for $10,000 has been appraised by Mr. Berglund at $2,500. In view of the difference, no negotiated price appears possible at this time. Mr. Essarian is going ahead with subdivision and the open land can be re- appraised or taken by eminent domain at some time in the future, if desired. The meeting adjourned at 11:15 p.m. Evert N.
