' January 23, 1967
A regular meeting of the Lexington Planning Board
was held on Monday, January 23, 1967 in its office, Town
Office Building, Lexington, Mass. The meeting was called
to order at 7:30 p.m. by Vice-chairman Riffin with members
Campbell, Fowle and Worrell, and Planning Director Zaleski
present.
Minutes of the meeting of January 16 were approved. MINUTES

At 8:00 p.m. the advertised public hearing was held
on the proposal to amend the Rules and Regulations Governing
RULES AND the Subdivision of Land in Lexington, Mass." Mr. Corsano and
REGULATIONS Mr. Jones of Boston Edison Co. attended the hearing. Both Mr.
HEARING Corsano and Mr. Jones offered comments and information as re-
gards types of lighting poles used with underground installa-
tion, cost estimates, minimum number of transformers, types
of primary andsecondary cables, etc. Following a discussion
upon a motion duly made and seconded with Messrs. Fowle,
Worrell and Riffin being in favor and Mr. Campbell being
opposed, the Board
VOTED: to amend the Rules and Regulations Governing the Sub-
division of Land in Lexington, Mass.", as follows:
1. By adding at the end of paragraph 6. of Section 6.5.4:"The
classification of collector streets shall also include streets
with two parallel 22 feet wide pavements serving manufacturing
or research park subdivision, as described in Section 6.5.6.
and shown in Appendix L."
2. B y striking out the second sentence of Section 6.5.6 and
inserting in place thereof the following new sentence: "In
subdivisions of land for manufacturing, office or research park
uses, dead-end streets may be up to 2,000 feet long if con-
structed with two parallel 22 feet wide pavements and a total
right-of-way of 70 feet, substantially as shown in Appendix L."
3. By striking out Section 6.9 and inserting in place thereof
the following new Section 6.9: "6.9 Electric, telephone and
other utility wiring shall be placed underground in all resi-
dential subdivisions. Whenever feasible, underground wiring
shall be installed in non-residential subdivisions. The in-
stallation shall be to the specifications of the utility com-
pany concerned and of the Town of Lexington.
4. By adding following the first sentence of Section 7.3.3 the
following new sentence: "A 42 feet diameter circular grass
plot shall be placed in the center of permanent turnaround,
loamed and seeded as required for roadside grass plots; trees,
shrubs and other suitable plants may be planted in such circu-
lar grass plot.
5. By adding a 42 feet diameter circular grass plot in the draw-
ing of a permanent turnaround in Appendix K and by omitting the
drawing of the typical permanent back-up strip.
6. By adding Appendix L showing collector street described in
Sections 6.5.4 and 6.5.6 and by adding reference to two parallel
22 feet wide pavements in Appendix I.
MINUTES Minutes of Selectmen's meetings of Dec. 27, Jan. 3 and
9 were noted and placed on file.
The motion to have a town meeting on June 5, 1967 as
previously proposed, did not pass. The motion to go ahead with

' the codification of the zoning by-law and to postpone any
special town meeting until after the approval by the attorney -
general carried on a 3 to 1 vote with Mr. Worrell voting in
opposition.
It was decided to cancel the Planning Board meeting on
January 30, 1967, and to invite Mr. Stevens, owner of the
"Marey" property to a meeting in the near future.

The meeting on February 6, 1967, will not be cancelled
as previously planned. The Planning Director was authorized RECODIFIED
to have printed and distributed to Town Meeting members, ZONING BY-LAW
copies of the recodified zoning by-law in advance of the Feb-
ruary 8, 1967 public information meeting.
The discussion of reports on housing and on the cost of
services was postponed.
The meeting adjourned at 11:25 p.m.
