Reviewed by the Board was the following Form A appli- cation: FORM a #65-35, submitted Aug. 2, 1965 by Pond Realty Trust, James Taurasi, Trustee; plan entitled "Plan of Land in Lexington, Mass.", dated Aug. 2, 1965, Miller & Nylander, C.E.Ia & Surveyors. Land on Hickory and Kimball Sts. It was voted to endorse the plan as not requiring approval under the Subdivision Control Law. Upon request of the applicant, Cary Realty Trust, CARP ACRES SEC. � the Planning Board voted unanimously to extend the time Ciff REALTY TRUST within which the Board must act on the Cary Acres Section b subdivision to and including August 24, 1965. At 8:00 p.m. the Board met with Messrs. Burnell, Gray, Carroll and Corr (Traffic Study Committee). Mr. Bryson out- TRAFFIC STUDY lined the reasons for the meeting and the problems of mutual COMNITTEE interest, such as relocation of Pelham Rd. Mr. Burnell stated that a layout for the relocation of Pelham Rd. will be prepared this Fall for action by the 1966 annual town meeting. Mr. Carroll explained that Pelham Rd. will be one way from Mass. Ave. and that the new Pelham Rd. connection will be two- way located nearer to Marrett Rd. over the Grey Nuns property. The future of Emerson Rd. was discussed next, and the question of a road connecting Mass. Ave. and Rte. 2 was brought up in this connection. Mr. Carroll suggested that the Planning Board may urge the Selectmen to have the Mass. Ave. -Rte. 2 connection de- signed and built as a high priority project. Mr. Burnell suggested that the Board may wish to make a policy statement an Emerson Rd. The street pattern around Moreland Ave. school was dis- cussed next. The next item discussed was the authority of the MORELAND AVE. town to regulate curb -cuts in connection with the proposal of - - - Mr. Deignan to build on the Carriage House site on Lincoln St. CARRIAGE HOUSE Mr. Carroll said that the Town has in the past installed curb- DEIGNAN ing in town ways where necessary to regulate connection to off- street parking. The proposal to extend Grassland St. to Wal- a-2-65 -2- Cham St. opposite Brookside Rd. was discussed next. Mr. Bryson then asked about the possibility of extending Outlook Drive to Marrett Rd. Mr. Burnell suggested that this connection can be postponed until after the fire station is built next to it. Mr. Bryson next examined some of the proposals relative to the re- vitalization of the central business district and a discussion followed, particularly as regards parking south of Massachusetts Ave. and the cross-section of Mass. Ave. Minutes of Selectmen's meetings of July 12 and 26 were noted and placed on file. Notices of Historic Districts Commission's hearings on CORRES- August 5, 1965 were read and placed on file. PONDENCE Letters from Leslie Church, Daniel Magarian and Richard Lee, dated July 15, 1965r, relative to renaming of unconnected portions of Emerson Rd. were discussed and it was decided to ad- vise Mrs. Church that the matter will be studied by the Board in order to alleviate it. Letter from Town Engineer, dated July 15, 1965, regard- ing the signing of duplicate tracings was read and noted. Letter from Mrs. Groisser agreeing to carry out com- munity attitude survey for the long-range planning study and that Mrs. Relman will be in charge of the Land Use Committee en- trusted with this task was read and placed on file. PLANNING The Board next reviewed and discussed the division of DISTRICTS the town into planning districts as prepared by the Planning Director. It was decided that the boundaries of districts should conform to U.S. census tracts. Letter from Robert Cataldo, dated June 25, 1965, relative PUBLIC WORKS to the use of the site of the Public Works Building was dis- BUILDING cussed. It was decided to advise Mr. Cataldo that the Board favors retaining the Public Works Building there and that, should the building be removed, the only uses which the Board would not oppose would be single family residence or tradesmen's park for which a rezoning would, however, be required.
