May 10, 1965
A regular meeting of the Lexington Planning Board was
held on Monday, May 10, 1965 in its office, Town Office Build-
ing. Keeting called to order by Chairman Bryson with members
Campbell, Fowle, Greeley, Riffin, and Planning; Director
Zaleski present.
At 7:45 p.m. Mr. Abend, traffic engineer engaged by the
Planning Board for the study of Emerson Rd., met with the
Board. The study of Emerson Rd. was discussed. Mr. Abend re-
ported some preliminary findings relative to traffic volumes.
clr. Boughton came in to discuss the date of meeting of
the Board with the Capital Expenditures Committee and Mr. Woglom
of P-letcalf & Eddy. Since Mr. Woglom will not be able to attend
a meeting on the 19th of May, it was tentatively decided to hold
the meeting on either May 20 or 25th.

It was decided to devote June 14 meeting to a discus-
sion of zoning policies.
Mr. Bryson invited members of the Board to the meet-
ing with architects relative to the revitalization of C.B.D.
on May 125 1965 at 8:00 p.m.
Mir. John Carroll, Town Engineer, met with the Board
regarding the access to Moreland Ave. school site. Mr. Carroll

Ave. but from Philip Rd. because of very steep grades at More-
land Ave. The access road would not be constructed of paid for
by the School Dept. Supt. of Schools has no objection to the
Philip Rd. access but would also be satisfied with vehicular
access from Rockville Ave. with pedestrian access from Philip
Rd. The Board expressed itself in favor of Philip Rd. connec-
tion and in favor of selling for houses the remaining town land
west of Philip Rd.
Minutes of meeting of May 3, 1965 were approved.

The following Form A application was reviewed:
FORM A
#65-22, submitted May 6, 1965 by Mark Moore, Jr.;
plan entitled "Plan of Land in Lexington Mass.113
dated April 295 1965, Miller & Nylander, C.E.'s &
Surveyors.
Upon motion duly made and seconded it was unanimously voted
to endorse it as not requiring approval under the Subdivision
Control Law.
It was decided to devote June 14 meeting to a discus-

The organization of the Community Planning Organization
COMNTUNITY was discussed next and it was decided to recommend that the
PLANNING organization be headed by Selectman Irving Mabee and include the
ORGANIZATION committees as follows: Land Use (Planning Board); Population
(none needed); Neighborhoods (Planning Board); Economy; Schools;
Recreation; Town Buildings and Lands; Circulation, Parking,
Snowplowin67 Roads; Utilities, water, drain, Public 14orks Dept.;
Refuse disposal; Historic assets and tourism; Public relations;
Police and fire; Health.
Letter from Donald Irwin, Building Inspector, regarding
ZONING zoning violations, dated May 7, 1965, was read and discussed.
VIOLATIONS The Board expressed itself willing to aid the building inspector
in following up on action taken on the reported zoning violations.
FRANKLIN AVE. Notice of hearing by the Arlington Board of Selectmen
regarding the change of name of Franklin Ave. to Evergreen Lane
was read and noted.
The Board was advised by Selectmen Mabee and Cataldo
LIDBERG- that I•Ir. Lidberg will not extend the option on land off Adams St.
CASTOLDI and that the Selectmen voted to insert the Lidberg and Castoldi
land articles into the June 7, 1965 warrant. The Board decided
to hold a public information meeting on May 27 in Estabrook Hall.
Summer schedule of meetings was discussed and it was '
SUMMER decided to hold meetings on the following Mondays: June 14 and
SCHEDULE 28, July 12 and 26, August 9 and 23, Sept. 13, and weekly there-
after.
OAK PARK SUB. The Board voted to extend time for Planning Board action
on Oak Park subdivision to and including May 26, 1965.
The meeting adjourned at 10:45 p.m.
