HomeMy WebLinkAbout1964-06-04PLANNING BOARD MEETING ' June 4, 1964 A regular meeting of the Lexington Planning Board was held Thursday, June 4, 1964,,in its office, Town Office Building, Lex- ington, Mass. The meeting was called to order at 8:10 p.m. by Chairman Meyer, with members Bryson, Campbell and Riffin and planning director Zaleski present. The Board met with the chairman of the Board of Appeals, Mr. Donald Nickerson, regarding the Article 23 of the June 8, 1964, Special Town Meeting on Nursing Homes, Convalescent Homes and Rest Homes being included in the permitted uses in R 1 district with Board of Appeals special permit. Mr. Nickerson stated that the town counsel had asked him whether he had any objections to the insertion of the article and that he (Nickerson) had none, but that neither would he care about the outcome of the vote an the article. After Mr. Nickerson's departure, the Board proceeded to review Art. 23 and decided to recommend adoption of the article. NURSING HOMES REPORTS ON ARTICLES FOR SPECIAL TOWN MEETING Article 16 - rezoning of Spring St. area to C 3 - was con- sidered next and the majority was opposed to the rezoning (Meyer, Campbell in favor, Riffin and Bryson opposed) with a majority and minority reports being submitted. Article 18 was discussed next. It was decided to arrange for Art. 18 being considered first before Art. 17 and to arrange for reconsideration of Art. 18 after Art. 16 is voted on, chair- man to discuss this with the moderator. Article 15 was discussed next and the draft prepared by Mr. Zaleski approved, recommending the adoption of the Article. Mr. Greeley came at 9:50 and discussion on Article 23 was reopened, the previous decision was upheld with Riffin and Greeley abstaining. Article 22 was discussed next, the majority was opposed to rezoning, Mr. Campbell will prepare a minority report. Article 19 was reviewed next and the draft prepared by Mr. Greeley modified. Discussion on Article 16 was reopened and drafts worked on without change of opinion. Article 17 was reviewed then and the draft approved. It was decided also to support the acquisition of Lyon land and Conservation Commission request for authority to con- tract with Federal Government and for the Soil Survey, but not NURSING HOMES REPORTS ON ARTICLES FOR SPECIAL TOWN MEETING 6-b-64 -2- support $15,000 Conservation fund.
