PLANMTNG BOARD MEETING
February 11, 1963
The Lexington Planning Board held a
regular meeting in its office in the Town
Office Building on Monda`•, February 11, 19631
at 7:40 p.m. Present were Chairman Grindle,,
members Campbell and Meyer, and Mr.Snow, Plan-
ning Director.
Attention was called to a copy of Article
8 as passed at the Special Town Meeting held
January 28, 1963. -
said article creating a com-
mittee to make a studv of historic districts of
the town. (See addenda.), In accordance with the
text of the article Mr. Grindle designated Mr.
Meyer as the Planning Board member of the Com-
mittee and stated he would so notify the Town
Clerk,
Attention was also called to a letter,
dated February 8, from the chairman of the His-
toric Districts Commission designating Wilbur
M. Jaquith as the Commissions member of said
committee.

Taken under consideration were the fol
lowing Form A annlications for determination FORMS A
of Planning Board jurisdiction:

#63-144 submitted February 7, 1963 by
J. J. Silverman, Atty., for Nicholas
and Theresa Iodice; plan entitled "Plan
of Land in Lexinr*ton-Mass.", dated Mar.
11, 1957, Scale: 1" = 40', Miller & Ny
lander, C.E.'s &. Surveyors.
It was decided to request Mrs. Morey,
the applicant, to withdraw her application,
#63-11, and submit another in order to give the
Town Counsel sufficient time to give the Plan-
ning Board a written opinion in regard to the
plan accompanying said application.
(Note: Mrs. Morey withdrew her application Feb-
ruary 12, and submitted another designated #63-
16.)
It was moved, seconded and unanimously

The remainder of the meeting was devoted
ARTICLES to a discussion of articles on the warrant for
FOR the 1963 annual town meeting, particularly those
WARRANT articles concerning which the planning Board had
an interest. Hearin son Articles 35s 391 49, 501
761 77, 78, 791 and 60 were scheduled for March
4, 7, and 14; 1963. Mr. Snow was asked to have
legal notices placed in the Lexington Minute -man '
and to determine the cost of advertising, mailing
the notices, holding hearings, etc., to be appor-
VOTED: that the Lexington Planning Board de-
termines that the plan accompanying Form '
A application #63-14 does not require
approval under the Subdivision Control
Law, and that said plan be so endorsed.
Read to the Board was a letter, dated
February 6, from Thomas C..Johnson of Nordblom
BOSTON
Company, Boston, Realtors, to Mr. Snow stating

that the Boston Flower Exchange was interested

in purchasing 15 to 20 acres of land on which it
was proposed to erect a 200,000 sq. ft. building
in the Hartwell Avenue area and requesting the
Board's opinion on the possibilities of a favor-
able ruling on this request. X1r. Grindle was
asked to reply to tho letter from Mr. Johnson
attaching for his information a page from the
zoning by-law setting forth the uses' permitted
in CM 1 districts and suggesting that if he
wished to do so that he meet with the Board and
discuss the proposal for a flower exchange fur-
ther.

W. Geller, architects, met with the Board to in-
form it of the uronosal of Country -wide Offices
to erect a multi -tenant building at the north-
easterly corner of the proposed Route 2 -Spring
Street interchange. It was stated that the build-
ing would be of first class construction, be of
concrete and white brick, would occupy 16,000
square feet of ground area and would be two stories
in height. It was also stated that the Burroughs
Corporation would occupy the building as an execu-
tive office and service center with about fifty
employees. A schematic plot plan, a topographic
model, a photograph of a perspective drawing of
the building, and an over-all rough-, perspective
of the area involved were exhibited.

In regard to Article 81 placed in the war-
rant by Mr. Benjamin A. Greene of 750 Concord Avenue,
It was decided to inform him that (1) the Planning
Board did not intend to hold a hearing on his re-
zoning proposal for the reason that he did not file
with the planning Board a petition requesting a
hearing on said proposal.. and (2) the Board was hold-
ing a hearing of its own to consider rezoning the en-
tire area in ',is neighborhood, including his property.

The Planning Board adjourned its meeting at
9:30 n.m.

Dear Mr. Greene:
February 14, 1963
You have filed with the Lexington Board of Selectmen a
petition for placing an article in the warrant for the
annual town meeting in regard to rezoning your land. You
undoubtedly realize that under the Lexington Zoning By-law
this matter cannot be acted upon unless a public hearing
has been held previously by the Planning Board. Since no
petition requesting such a hearing has been filed with the
Planning Board it does not intend to hold a hearing_ on your
rezoning proposal.
