PLANNING BOApD MEETING
July 2, 1962
The Lexington Planning Bo -rd held a regular
meeting in its office in the Town Office Bvilding
on Monday, July 22 1962 at 7:40 p.m. Present were
Chairman Grindle, members Campbell, Mabee and Mev_er,
and Mr. Snow, Planning Director.
During the first part of the meeting there
was held a general discussion in regard to manu- MASTER
scripts which Mr. Snow had prepared for a aummary PLAN
report on a master or comprehensive plan for Lex-
ington.
The Board approved the minutes of its meet- MINUTES
Ing held on June 25, 1962.
Approved for payment by the Board were the
following bills which had been presented: Wesley BILLS
J. Fwell, drafting services for period June 18
through June 30, 1962--X138.25; Spaulding -Moss Co.,
drafting supplies -48.75.
The following Form A applications for deter-
mination of Planning Board jurisdiction were taken
under consideration:
#62-43 (see minutes of Planning Board meet-
ing of June 25).
#62-46, submitted Julv 21 1962 by Antonio
Busa: plan ent-tled "Plan of Land in Lexing-
ton, Mass.", Scale: 1'1 = 40', dated June 29,
1962, Miller R Nvlander, C.R.'s & Surveyors.
Action on anplication #62-46 was withheld
vending submission of more information in regard
to the plan accompagving said application.
Mr. Snow gave a report of the conversation
he had held with the Town Counsel in regard to the
plan accompanvi.ng application #62-43. Thereupon,
it was moved, seconded, and unanimously
VOTED: that the Lexington Planning Board determines
that the plan accompanying Form A application
#62-43 requires approval under the Subdivi-
sion Control Law.
In connection with said vote it was decided
that as a matter of poli.cv it would be unfair to

require the subdivider to construct that section of
Kendall Road from the Colonial Acres development to ,
^rapevine Avenue wren the abutting rronerty owners
on the southeasterly side of said Kendall Road would
benefit directly from the construction of said road
without having to nav any of the construction cost.
It was decided to inform the subdivider that if he
would net_tion the Board of Selectmen to lay out said
section of Kendall Road as a town way the Planning
Board would sunnort such a proposal. Mr.Snow was
asked to so inform the subdivider.
Considered next were the nroposels that had
CABOT, CABOT been presented the previous week by representatives
& FORBES of Cabot, Cabot & Forbes for the development of tie
C 3 district situated southerly of Marrett Road.
LEXINGTON Inasmuch as the said representatives had not left
OFFICE CENTER for consideration by the Board copies of plans show -
PARK Ing these proposals, Mr. Snow was asked to write to
said representatives asking them to file said plans
for consideration. (See addendum.)
Attention was called to a copy of the Town
LEGISLATION Counsels letter of June 21 to the Chairman of the
Board of Selectmen stating that the special Lexing-
CHAPTER 570 ton bill authorizing pa -anent to subdividers was en-
acted by both branches of the Legislature and was
approved by the Governor on June 19, 1962. It was
noted that Section 2 of the Act, Chapter 570 of the
Acts of 1962, validates the appropriation made for
such payments under Article 54 of the Warrant for
-he 1962 Annual Town Meeting.
Attention was also called to a copy of the
LAND FOR Town Counselts letter of June 28 to the chairman of
RECRFATIONAL the Board of Selectmen indicating that there now had
PiPPPOSES been completed a transaction in which the town ac-
quired part of the land of the Goodrich Brothers
GOODRICH situated northerly of Summer Street pursuant to the
vote adopted under Article 38 of the ',!arrant for
the 1952 Annual Town Meeting which authorized the
land to be acquired for playground and recreational
purposes. (See addendum.)
Read to the Board were the notices of peti-
tions to be heard by the Board of Appeals on July 10
and 171 1962. It was decided to take no action in
regard to said petitions with the possible exception
of that of Helen B. "arsons to be heard on July 17.
Mr. Snow was asked to obtain additional information
In regard to said petition.
The Planning Board adjourned its meeting at
9:25 p.m.

Dear Mr. Nheeler:
At its meeting last night the ?Planning Board had planned to
consider in detail the proposals ,you presented on June 25
fon the future subdivision of the C 3 district situated on
Marrett Road. Through some misunderstanding, however, it
was found that the schematic plans you presented were not
left with the Board for its consideration. It will be
greatly appreciated, therefore, if you would have this done
so tlhe matter may be taken up at the Planning Board meeting
to be held on July 9.

rear Mr. Adams: Re: Acquisition of Goodrich Land
This is to let you know that I have now completed the trans-
action in which the Town acquired a portion of the land of the
Goodrich brothers situated northerly of Summer Street, pur-
suant to vote adopted under Article 38 of the Idarrant for the
1962 Annual Town Meeting which authorized the land to be ac-
quired for playground and recreational and other -public pur-
roses.
The Town acquired lots 7 and 11 by deed dated June 25, 1962
and registered yesterdav in Middlesex South Land Registry
District as document 380282. The Town will have issued to it
covering said land Certificate of Title No. 108182, Book 6713
Page 32. The Town raid the sum of 66300 plus a conveyance to
the Goodrich brothers of a small parcel of unregistered land.
' I enclose the Town's original of the agreement with the Good-
rich brothers dated June 25, 1962 signed by a majority of the

Board of Selectmen granting a limited right to them to
remove fallen wood from the land that they conveyed to
the Town.
