A regular meeting of the Lexington Planning
Board was held on Monday_, June 4, 1ch2 at 7:30 n.m.
in the Planning Board's office, Town Office Build-
in7. Present were Chairman Grindle, Members Bryson,
Campbell, Mabee and Meyer, and 1?r. Snow, ?Tanning
Director.
The Board approved the minutes of its May 21, MIN[?TES
1962 meeting.
The following Form A arnlications for deter-

Upon mot'on duly made and seconded, it was I unanimously
VOTED: that the Lexin�ton Planning; Board determines
that the plans accompanying Form A applica-
tions #62-33, #62-34, #62 -35,#62 -36 -and #62-
37 do not require approval under the Subdivi-
sion Control Law, and that said plans be so
endorsed.
Mr. Snow reported on a conference he had held

gineering, Inc. with reference to the studies said

corporation was making for the Planning Board to -pro-
vide connections for I,Torthen and Emerson Roads to

made to have Mr. LaRosa and other representatives of
,Abbott Enfiineering to -present formally their recom-
mendations in regard to the location of said roads
in the Pleasant and '^Tatertown Streets area through a
general meeting of the Bo^rd of Selectmen and.Plan-
ni_ng Board on Monday, June 11, at a time when Mr..
John Carroll, Su -pt. of Public `.�Torks, could also be
present.

19. From the information Mr. Snow had obtained in

regard to the Crane pet -tion it was decided to take

no action in this matter. with reference to the
Crane
Black -petition it was decided that the Board would
be in favor of granting a variance to resubdivide
the Black nroperties at the corner of 11 Highland
Avenue and'Minola Road in accordance with the plan
entitled "Plan of Land in Lexington, Mass. Owned
br: Black," dated May 25, 1960, and prepared by
Joseph W. Moore, Inc., on condition that there be
obtained from Mrs. Minola M. Black an instrument
she had previously executed under date of August 6,
1960 for the abandonment of non -conforming use. Mr.
Snow was asked to draft for Mr. Grindle's signature
a letter to the Board of Appeals notifying them of
the Planning Board's decision in this case. (See
addendum.)
The Board next reviewed additional material

which Mr.Antonio Busa, the subdivider, had filed

with the Board in connection with the Green Valley,
Sec. 8, preliminary subdivision plan. Mr. Snow re-

ported that he had referred said preliminary plan
to Mr. Carroll, Supt. of Public `,dorks, for recommen-
dations.

Considered next was the application, dated
Mav 29, 1962, of the Ttek Cornoratipn for a finding
and determination under Section 5, sub -section (h) of
the Lexington Zonin- B ----law for the proposed construc-
tion of a shop and office building i_n a CM 1 district
and for a variance uncer Section 8(e)l.b.(l) of said
by-law to allow a yard on Marrui.re Road of less than
that required by the by-law. In reviewing the mater-
ial wrier had been submitted with the application the
Planning T3oard. asked "ir. Snow to refer the matter to
the Town Counsel for an opinion as to whether or not
the submitted material fulfilled tre intent of the
zoning; by-law.
The Board next reviewed its discussion held
at its previous meeting in regard to establishing a
schedule to enable Mr. Snow to complete tis report
of a loner -range development plan for Lexi.ngto-. The
Board approved the draft of a memorandum setting
forth this schedule, a copy of which it was decided
to send to the follow -ng town agencies and officials:
Board of Selectmen, Town Counsel, Board of Appeals,
Board of "ealth, School Committee, Building, Department,
Engineering Denartment and Department of Public Works.

The Board also veld a general discussion in re-
gard to possible reorganization at a .future date of
the staff work of the Board.

' Reference is made to the petition of Minola M. Black for a
variance to modify a lot line on her property at the corner
of 11 Highland Avenue and Minola Road.

The Planning Board would have no objection to the granting
of said variance if it were done in accordance with the
elan entitled "Plan of Land n Lexington, Mass, owned by:
Black," dated May 251, 1960 and brenared by Jose -oh W. Moore,
Inc. and nrovided there is obtained from Mrs. Black the in-
strument entitled "Abandonment of Non -Conforming Use's exe-
cuted by Mrs. Black under date of August 6, 1960.
Should the Board of Appeals decide to grant said variance,
before doing so the Towb Counsel should have received said
executed instrument to hold in escrow so that he may re-
cord the Abandonment instrument together with the "Moore
plan after the latter has been endorsed by the Planning
Board.

Memorandum to the Lexinmton mown officials and P.gencies,
and other Town Grouns which may be concerned:
The Lexin-ton Planning Board believes that the completion
and publication of a comprehensive report to the Lexing-
ton citizens is the most important immediate task before
it. Therefore the Board calls your attention to a olan
it has adopted in regard to the allocation of time of the
Planning Director, Mr. Snow. Having completed the back-
log of the Board's administrative work, Mr. Snow has been
requested to devote the major portion of his time to the
task of completing said report.
In view of this request, effective J>>ne 6 and continuing
until further notice,
Mr. Snow will (1) maintain normal office hours only
on Monday and Friday of each week, and (2) reserve
Tuesday$ Wednesday and Thursday of each week for re-
nort work.
Mrs. Macomber T,011 refer to the Chairman or Vice
Chairman of the Planning Board any matter which would
ordinarily be taken care of b the Planning Director
and cannot be nostnoned until a Pri.da-*.
