HomeMy WebLinkAbout1962-05-07' PLATTITING BOARD MEETT"G May 7, 1962 The Lexington Planning? Board held a regu- lar meeting in its office, Town Office Building, on Monday, May 7, 1962 at 7:30 n.m. Present were Chairman Gri.ndle and Members Camrbell and Mabee. Mr. Meyer was present from 8:00 until 8:30 r.m. Upon vote of those present, Mr. Irving H. Mabee was elected to serve as clerk for the evening. The Board anoroved for natrment the follow- ing bills which had been presented: Wallace B. BILLS Mitchell Co., drafting, surnlies--X5.11; Charles', office sup lies --60.9+; L.M.Foster, Inc., office suoplies--,5.62. The major portion of the meeting was de- voted to discussing the Girrac Pea1t7 Trust defin- MINUTE MAN itive subdivision plan known as Minute Man High- HIGH-IA'TD S Lands, Section Four. Town Counsel Stevens met with SEC. 4 the Board from 9:70 to 9:30 r.m, to discuss this and other current nroblems before the Board. As a GIRRAC REALTY ' basis for the discussion of the subdivision nrob- TR13ST lem, Mr. Gri ndle pave a ^e-oort of the conference he and Mr. Carroll, Sunerintendent of Public Works, CARRIG and Mr. Snow held on Thursday afternoon, May 7, with Messrs. James A. and Robert W. Carrig and Wilbur C. Nylander, civil engineer, in regard to said subdivision. Telephoning from the Planning Board meet- ing the Board requested Mr. James Carrig for an extension of time in which the Board must act on his subdivision plan in order to allow the Board more time to prepare possible modifications and certain recommendations in regard to approval of said plan and also to allow the Town Counsel time to prepare a covenant for execution by the Trust. Mr. Carrig was informed that it was the opinion of the members present that if this extension of time was granted that in all probability approval of the plan with modifications could be made. Mr. Carrig stated that he would give the Board an an- swer to its request the following day. Renorting on the conference with the Car_rigs, Mr. Grindle said that he, Mr. Carroll and Mr, Snow ' had agreed to recommend favorable consideration by the Planning Board of (1) laying out and construc- tion by the Town of an extension of nA" Street on 5-7-(12 -2- the subdivision plan from Rockville Avenue to More- ' land Avenue, (2) reimbursing the Trust for the extra cost of constructing "C" Street on said plan to al, greater width than that required to serve the subdi- vision alone, and (3) reimbursing the Trust for en- gineering services necessar-v to change the subdivi- sion elan by redesigning "C" and "D" streets in accord- ance wits the modifications proposed by the Board. The members of the Board present during the discus- sion of these recommendations considered them favor- ably. From 10:15 to 10:45 n.m. the Planning Board met with the Selectmen to request their approval of the Planning Boards recommendation that the Town lay out and construct at its expense a road extend- ing from pockville Avenue to Moreland Avenue. It was poanted out that nracticallg all of this Proposed road would be constructed over town -owned land or land owned by the Girrac Realty Trust, who would grant to the Town easements over its land, The Selectmen were Informed that it was the opinion of the Planning Roard that it was justified in accenting Rockville Avenue as a temporary second means of access for the Minute Man High -Lands Section Four subd;vi sion until the bronosed ' road connecting said subdivision to Moreland Avenue was constructed. The Selectmen grave their annroval of the planning Boards recommendation. Discussed at the Planning Board's meeting was TIDD PLACE the request of Messrs. Ralph F. Stevens and William H. Sullivan for a change in the name of Tidd Place in STREET NAME the Tillinghast Estates subdivision. (See minutes of the Planning hoard meetingof April 30, 1962.) It was decided that the Board was not i,n favor of the name "Winshin" as a substitute for Tidd but would consider another nronosal. Mr.Grindle was instructed to so Inform Mr. Stevens.
