A regular meeting of the Lexin7ton Planning Board was held on Tuesdav, March 22, 1960 at 7:40 p.m, in the Planning Boardts office, Town Office Building. Present were Chairman Burnell, Members Grindle, Nabee and Mever, and Planning Director Snow. Considered first by the Board was Mr. Reen- stiernats March 3, 1960 letter and its accompany- VINE BROOK Ing site plan, dated. February 29, 1960, for the REALTY nronosed Waltham Street garden apartment district. TRUST From 7:50 to 9:50 n.m. Mr. Reenstierna met with the - Board to discuss said letter and site elan. After WALTHAM Mr. 'Reenstierna left the meeting it was decided to STREET write a letter to him setting forth the Planning GARDEN Board's understanding; of the conclusions reached at APARTMENT said meeting with him. The planning Board approved the minutes of MINUTES ' its February 29 and March 7, 1960 meetings. Anproved also were the following bills which had been presented for payment: Snauldin -Moss Co., BILLS printing of maps and drafting sunnlies--38.69; Joan C. TMacDonald, assembling and binding zoning by- laws --P11.90. Considered next by the Board were the fol- lowing Form A app lications for determination of FORMS A Planning Board jurisdiction: #60-20, submitted '..March 211 1960 by R. L. Higgins, Fngr. for the Town of Lexington; elan en- titled "Plan of Drain easement off Woburn Street, Lexin7ton Mass.", Scale: 1" = ho's dated Feb. 17, 1960, John J. Carroll, Town Engineer. X160-21, submitted March 21, 1960 by George J. Baileys Mark Moore Jr.s Agent; plan entitled "PM lan of Land in Lexington, ass.", Scale: 1" = 40', dated March 8, 1960, Miller g.. Nylander, C.E.'s & Surveyors. 1 #-60-22s submitted March 21, 1960 by Estate of Oscar B. Kenrick, Mark Moore Jr.s Agent; plan entitled "Plan of Land in Lexington, Mass.`, Scale: 3-22-60 -2- 1" = 401, dated March 9, 19601 Miller & '771ander, C.r.'s & Surveyors. Var'ous members of the Board pointed out that in connection with such a unit there would be heavy trucking; involved and for this reason the building would have to be located on a main street. Mr. Stevens said that he had discussed the matter with the Select- ' men and believed that the Planning Board would want to Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously VOTED: that the plans accompanying Form A applica- tions #60-20, #60-21 and #60-22 do not re- quire approval under the Subdivision Control Law, and that said plans be so endorsed. With reference to the petitions to be heard BOARD OF by the Board of Appeals on Anri1 5, 19601 Mr.Snow APPEALS reviewed with the Planning Board information he had obtained in regard to the Travers' petition. It was decided to take no action i.n regard to said petition. Reviewed next by the Board was the action TOWN taken on the previous night by the Town Meeting and WARRANT articles in which the PlanninM Board had particular interest and which were to be considered at the next adjourned town meeting. From 9:25 to 10:15 p.m. Mr. Stevens attended the Planning Board meeting and entered into discussion in regard to said articles and other matters currently before the board. Mrs Stevens reported that from the Adjutant PROPOSED General of the Massachusetts Natidnal Guard he had NATIONAL been Informed that the Guard would like to locate GUARD an armory in the Fast Lexington section of town, A'9M07Y the requirement being that the Town must furnish the land for such an armory; teat Washington desired a building site 5-10 acres in size while the Adjutant General believed 3-1. acres to be the minimum; that It was -oronosed to erect a building somewhat similar to tlhat constructed on Concord Avenue In Cambridge, and that an artillery unit presently located at the Commonwealth Armory would be available immediately to move into a Lexington armory*. Mr. Stevens also reported that the General believed that the advan- tages of having an armory located in Lexington would be that the building would be available for municipal activities and that the unit would be available to the town in case of various town emergencies. Reenstierna 853 Massachusetts Avenue Arlington 7h_, Mass. Dear Mr. Reenstierna: The Planning Board anpreciated the opportunity of dis- cussing with Irou at its meeting on March 22 ,your letter of March 3, 1060 and its accompanving site plan dated February 290 1960. It is the Board's understanding that Iron are going to have prepared for its further considera- tion a new site plan for the Waltbam Street Garden Apart- ment district. It is further understood that said plan will show the lane and building locations substantially as shown on the Board's site plan studv of December 10, 1959 and Mr. Manaselian's study of December 283 1959 but that the narking areas abutting the pavement on the inside of Cant. Parker Lane are to be eliminated and a new nark- ing area located southerly of the building restriction line adjacent to the southerly side of said lane.
