PLANNING BOARD MEETING
March 3, 1958
A regular meeting of the Lexington Plan-
ning Board was held in the Town Engineer's Room,
Town Office Building, on Monday, March 3, 1958
at 7:30 P.M. Present were Chairman Grindle,
Members Abbott, Burnell, Jaquith, and Soule, and
Planning Director now. Town Counsel Stevens was
present from 8:L�5 to 9:20 p.m.
Approved b7 the Board were the minutes of MINUTES
June 11 and 18, 1956, and January 27, 1958.
Approved also were the following bills BILLS
which had been presented for payment: Spaulding -
Moss Co., office supplies, $5.95 and $0.50--
�6.45; L.E.Muran Co., duplicator paper --$10.00.
The Board's attention was called to the
application of Frank DeFelice for approval of a
definitive subdivision plan to lay out a portion
of Ann Street, said a plication having been sub-
mitted on March 3,195. It was decided to hold
a public hearing relative to said application on
March 26, 1958 at 8:00 p.m.
Reviewed by the Board in a general way
were 22 bills concerned with planning, zoning,
and related matters under consideration by the
General Court. Discussed were the purposes and
comments on each bill as set forth by the Mass.
Federation of Planning Boards and the Division
of Planning of the Mass. Department of Commerce.
The Board authorized Mr. Snow, as it had the pre-
vious year, to write a letter to Mr. Naloney, a
representative from the 19th Middlesex District
and a member of the Legislative Committee on
Mercantile Affairs, setting forth comments and
recommendations in regard. to said bills. Mr.
Jaquith was asked to assist Mr. Snow in the study
of the proposed legislation and the preparation
of noted ,o include in said letter.
Mr. Stevens came to the meeting at 8:45
p.m. to discuss with the Board who would be
served with a summons to take to court the fol-
lowing day records of the Planning Board in re-
gard to the public hearing on the Sun Valley
Section One subdivision plan, it being under-

suing the DeVries Construction Co., Inc. for
damages in connection with storm drainage. It was
decided that the Chairman would be served with
said summons.

ing the land the DeVries Construction Co.,Inc.
proposed to give to the Town of Lexington, said
land being located southeasterly of the Sun Valley
development. Mr. Snow pointed out that the plan
as drawn did not conform to the definitive sub-
division plan of Section Fifteen of Sun Valley pre-
viously approved by the Board, the Venne plan in-
dicating that the Town was not to obtain land in
one continuous parcel the highest point of land in
the area, said point being called Mt. Orr. Mr.
Snow also read to the Board its minutes of the.
July 16 and August 131 1956 in regard to the acqui-
sition of the land in question and showed to the
Board some of the studies which had been made in
connection with the approval of the Section Fifteen
Sun Valley preliminary plan which reserved the top
of Mt. Orr for use as an observation point. The
Board instructed Mr. Snow to confer with Mr. DeVries
in regard to the Venne plan to see if the Town could
acquire all the land the Board understood it was to
obtain from the 1956 studies.

quest, met with them to discuss the proposed Wood -

Federal funds. After discussing the various
aspects of the road's location, connect;ons, points
of access, maintenance, etc., it was decided that
Mr. Gayer would write a letter to the District
Office of the State Dept. of Public 'Works mention-
ing various questions asked during said discussion
and requesting that the Selectmen and Planning
Board have a meeting with a representative of said
office for the purpose of discussing various points
of interest.
At 10:00 p.m the Board left the Selectmen's
meeting and with the exception of Messrs. Abbott
and Soule returned to its meeting in the Town En-
gi.neer's Room. After discussing various matters
before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 10:30.
