January 20, 1058
A regular meetinc of the Lexington Planning Board
was held in the Town '_ingineer's Room, Town Office Build-
ing, on Monday, January 20, 1958 at 7:40 p.m. Present
were Chairman Grindle, Members Abbott, Burnell, Jaquith
and Soute, and Planning Director Snow.
There was held first a general discussion of cur-
rent problems before the Board includinc- the following
items: the Board's offer, for option purposes, of the
Town's purchase for recreation use of a parcel of Mr.
Mark Moo -e, J.r.'s land located adjacent to Vine Brook
and approximately between North and East Streets;
publicity in regard to the option obtained for the
Town's purchase of land fronting on North Street and
owned by Misses Robinson and rdillard; various matters
concerning Filene's -proposal for a regional shopping
center.
In regard to Filene's proposal, Mr. Jaquith showed REGIONAL
the Board prints of additional traffic data Mr. Gummere of SHOPPING
Filene's had Mr. Cox of '4FIlbur Smith & Associates pre- CATER
pare with respect to projected traffic flow in and out
of the proposed shopping center project. Mr. Snow was
asked to work with Messrs. Abbott and Burnell in inter-
preting said data for use by the Board.. Mr. Jaquith
said that he would draft into whatever form necessary
to conform to LexinMton's zoning by-law certain shop-
ping center zoning revisions suggested. by Filene's repre-
sentatives.
Considered next by the Board, and ap-proved by it, MT UTES
were the minutes of trie follow -n` Bard meetings: Decem-
ber 17, 2? anc 10, 10, ; January 6 and. 13, 195:.
The Board approved.:,ayment of the following bill: BILL

The ?Board took under consideration the following FORMS A

It was moved, seconded and unanimously
'DOTED: That the Lexin(-tor_ Planning Board determines
that the plans accompanying Form A applica-
tions #58-2, #58-3, and #594 do not require
approval and that said plans be signed bear-
ing the endorsement "Lexington Planning
Board approval under the Subdivision Control
Law not required."

tion Committee net in joint session with the Planning
Bo -rd to discuss future school sites and lard needed
for future recreation. Mr. Greeley reviewed the nro-
gram of the School Sites Committee showing on a map the
location of existing; and recommended sites for elementary
and junior hip, -.h schools. He pointed out that the committee
was working on the principle of providing on each school
site land adaptable for a platy area. He stated that the
size of each elementary school site was 10-12 acres with
about 5-8 acres available for recreation use and that the
si-e of each junior high school site was 25-30 acres W th
apnroximately 1K-20 acres available for recreation pur-
poses.
It was decided that the Planning Board would meet
with the Recreation Committee ar;ain to discuss the Board's
recommendations for additional recreational areas.
Thereu-)on, the members of the two committees left the
meeting at 10:15 ~i.m.
The meeting adjourned at 10:30 p.m.
