Mr. Gerard P. Friel, Pres. Re: "Plan of Land in
3 Paul Revere Road Lexington, Mass."
Lexington 73 Mass. dated Sept. 9, 1957,
Joseph W.Moore, Reg.
Dear Mr. Friel: Land Surveyor.
The Planning Board is returning herewith your
plan drawn on tracing cloth and referred to above, said
plan having been endorsed by the Board after having made
a determination that Lexington Planning Board approval
under the Subdivision Control Law is not required.
In making its determination, however, the Board
noted that the retained parcel composed of the remain-
ing parts of Lots 617 to 621, inclusive, is in violation
of Sec. (g) 3. of the Lexington Zoning By-law because of
the provisions of 8 (a) 1.c.(3) of said by-law.
Sincerely yours,
/sl Thomas S. Grindle, Chairman

' Board of Selectmen
Town Office Building,
Lexington 73, Mass.
Gent lem en:
Understanding that the new police station and town
office building is nearing the occupancy stage and that other
office space is to be rearranged, the Planning Board would like
to present at this time a request for additional office space.
This need has been brought about by the fact that progress in
the preparation of a long-range master plan has now proceeded
to the stage where a considerable amount of work on maps must
take place, these maps in various stages of development having
to be mounted on walks for temporary reference. In addition
to the maps, space is needed for the preparation of a topo-
graphic model of the town, said model to be used for future
reference and display purposes.
The Board has in mind the continuance of its office
in its present quarters and the addition of the present office
used by the Cemetery Commissioners. This suggestion is based
on the recommendation that the latter office be used as a map
preparation room, access to it being obtained by cutting a
' doorway through the wall now separating the Cemetery Commission-
er's office and the closet in the office of the Planning Board.
With such an arrangement, drafting table and plan files could
be moved into the office now occupied by the Cemetery Commis-
sioners so that any drafting or planning assistant working on
plans or models may have ample room for such work and yet not
disturb - as has often happened this past year - a conference
or citizens meeting. The present Planning Board office can
then be used mainly for administrative work and files, and a
combination Planning Director's office and Planning Board meet-
ing and conference room. This arrangement would be of a
decided advantage to the Board for the reason that all its maps
and files would be assembled at its meeting place. It has the
additional advantage in that the Board, which now meets in the
Town Engineer's Room, would not have to find other locations
for meetings when the Engineering Department has need of its
facilities in said room.
At your convenience the Planning Board would like to dis-
cuss this matter further with you and explain more fully its
request for additional office facilities.
Sincerely yours,
I
Isl Thomas S. Grindle, Chairman
