Many ques- INC. tions were asked about the plan which lacked in- formation, particularly in regard to cross sections and utilities. Yr. From 8:00 to 9:15 p.m. Mr. Willard P. Crush of 22 Colony Road met with the Board to give it the benefit of his experience in the field of in- dustrial development and to discuss with the Board various problems to t,e considered in rezoning land in the vicinity of State Route 128. ' After Mr. Grush left the meeting the Board considered the preliminary subdivision entitled Highland Glenn, dated Octpber 91, 1956 and submitted HIGHLAND to the Board on December 101, 1056 by John T. Cahill GLENN et al of Waltham. It was noted that this plan was , somewhat similar to the one submitted by Mr. Cahill CAHTLL on March 7, 1955 and di_san_proved by the Planning Board on March 30, 1955. Mr. snow gave a report of his recommendations and those of the Town Engineer in regard to the recently submitted plan. The Board asked Mr. Snow to incorporate these recommendations into a vote to be acted upon at the next meeting of the Board. Chairman Hathaway exhibited to the Board a SEABURY letter which he had received from Mr. John F. Groden, MOTEL attorney for Frida Semler Seabury, said letter being dated December 182 1956 and transmitting information ASSOCIATES and documents requested by the Board in its letter REALTY of July 16 to Mrs. Seabury. Mr. Snow reported that TRUST earlier in the day Mr. M. A. Seabury, Jr. had brought to the Planning Board office additional material and plans for the motel he understood the Associates Realty Trust proposed to erect at the junction of Routes 2 A and 128. The Board asked Mr. Snow to examine the plans and also to have the Building In- spector do so,being prepared to recommend at the next meetibg of the Board whether or not it was now in order to proceed with a public hearing under Section 5 (g) of the Lexington Zoning By-law. There being no further business to transact at the time, the Board adjourned its meeting at 9:45 p•m• Levi G. Burnell, Jr. Clerk ADDENDUM December 202 1956 Board of Appeals Town Office Building Lexington 73, Massachusetts pe: Petition of Murray Sloane Maintenance of Existing Signs Gentlemen: For some time the Planning Board has been concerned with what appears to be an increasing number of vio- lations of Section 6 (f) of the Lexington's Zoning 12-1Q-56 The Planning Board feels that these signs are out of keeping with the standards Lexinr.ton is trying to main- tain in regard to signs. The Board sees no reason for larger signs in the location referred to in the petition than are allowed for real estate signs in other parts of town. Storer, Trustee Maintenance of Existing Sign Gentleren: For some time the planning Board has been concerned with what appears to be an increasing number of violations of Section 6 (f) of Lexington's Zonirg Bq -Laws in regard to the erection and maintenance of real estate signs adver- tising the sale of the premises in residential districts. Accordingly, after asking a representative to check on its observations, the Boa -,d brought this information to the attention of the Building Inspector. One of its observa- tions had. to do with the sign for which the petitioner re- ferred to above is seeking a variance. This sign reading "For Information call R. M. Bradley a. Co.,Inc.", etc., measures 1t_' -1"x6', not including the mounting. By -Laws in regard to the erection and maintenance of real estate signs advertising the sale of the premises in residential districts. Accordingly, after asking a representative to check on its observations, the Board brought this information to the attention of the Build- ing Inspector. One of its observations had to do with the two signs for which the petitioner referred to above is seeking a variance. These signs reading "For Sale Martin Cerel, Realtor," etc., measure 5'-6" x 9' not including their mountings. Including the latter, the sign on the corner of Route 2 and Route 128 meas- ures about 11 feet high. The Planning Board feels that these signs are out of keeping with the standards Lexinr.ton is trying to main- tain in regard to signs. The Board sees no reason for larger signs in the location referred to in the petition than are allowed for real estate signs in other parts of town.
