Pe : Petition of Murray Sloane
Maintenance of Existing Signs
Gentlemen:
For some time the Planning Board has been concerned
with what appears to be an increasing number of vio-
lations of Section 6 (f) of the Lexington' s Zoning
12-19-56 -2-
By-Laws in regard to the erection and maintenance of
real estate signs advertising the sale of the premises
in residential districts. Accordingly, after asking a
representative to check on its observations, the Board
brought this information to the attention of the Build-
' ing Inspector. One of its observations had to do with
the two signs for which the petitioner referred to
above is seeking a variance These signs reading "For
Sale Martin Cerel, Realtor, " etc , measure ' -6" x 9'
not including their mountings. Including the latter,
the sign on the corner of Route 2 and Route 12P meas-
ures about 11 feet high.
The Planning Board feels that these signs are out of
keeping with the standards Lexington is trying to main-
tain in regard to signs. The Board sees no reason for
larger signs in the location referred to in the netition
than are allowed for real estate signs in other parts of
town. The Planning Bo-rd, therefore, wishes to be re-
corded as being opnosed to the granting of the variance
requested.
Very truly yours,
LEXITTGTON PLATI1TTNG BOARD

Re Petition of Theodore L. Storer, Trustee
Maintenance of Existing Sign
Gentle-len
For some time the planning Board has been concerned with
what appears to be an increasing number of violations of
Section 6 (f) of Lexington ' s Zoning By-Laws in regard to
the erection and maintenance of real estate signs adver-
tising the sale of the premises in residential districts.
Accordingly, after asking a representative to check on its
observations, the Boa-d brought this information to the
attention of the Building Inspector. One of its observa-
tions hadto do with the sign for which the petitioner re-
ferred to above is seeking a variance This sign reading
"For Information call P . H. Bradley ?- Co. , Inc . ", etc . ,
measures 10 -1"x6' , not including the mounting.
The Planning Board feels that this sign is out of keeping
with the standards Lexington is trying to maintain in re-
gard to signs. The Board sees no reason for larger signs
in the location referred to in the petition than is
allowed for real estate signs in other parts of town. The
Planning Board, ti- erefore, wishes to be recorded as being
opposed to the granting of the variance requested.
Irery truly yours,
