Hearing - Leeland Construction Co.
A public hearing was held at 8:00 o'clock relative to the applica-
tion far approval as a subdivision property-of Leeland Construction Co.,
Inc. known as Section II, Robinson Hill. Approximately 25 citizens were
present. A letter was read from Mr. Pierre Northrop advising the Planning
Board that Diana Lane was under litigation. There was no objection to the
development as such; however discussion was held relative to exits and en-
trances. There were objections to Diana Lane being the only entrance to
1 the land on Robinson Hill which would probably be developed eventually and
it was felt that the Planning Board should take this into consideration as
an over-all plan for the future. If the streets are built as now laid out
it will be difficult to make future changes. There were also objections to
Hastings Road running directly across Massachusetts avenue for it was
feared this would encourage speeding. It was felt that if the break was
made somewhat beyond the present Hastings Road it would tend to slow up
traffic somewhat.
Also Mr. Ceriello of Cedar-St. objects to opening on Cedar St. as
it would increase traffic from Cedar through his land from the golf
course for those wishing to go to Mass. Ave. Objects only if nothing
else can be worked out, as he does not wish to oppose Mr. McConchie'a plan
for his development.
Those taking part in the discussion were: Mr. Hennessy, Mr, Herman
May, Mr. Richard Childerhose, Mr. Robert Lee, Mrs. William Ballard., Mr.
Converse Hill, Mr. George Royal., Mr. Burnham Kelly, Mr. Joseph Ceriello,
Mr. Arthur Ruge, Mr. Kirk, Mr. Max Straw. Those wishing to be registered
as opposed were: Mr. childerhose opposed only insofar as there is no
second street which would give reasonable protection to the area; Mr. Lee
and Mrs. Ballard opposed only to direct crossing of Hastings Road across
Mass. Ave.. Neither Mr. Lee nor Mrs. Ballard were opposed to change in
numbering of houses.-
Hearing and meeting adjourned at 9:00 o'clock.
