HomeMy WebLinkAbout1954-11-231 1 1 PLANNING BOARD MEETING Tuesday, Nov.23,1954 Present: Adams, Grindle, Hathaway, Irwin, Jaquith, Ripley - Snow, Stevens. Meeting opened at 7150 o'clock. Ross Letter read from Lexington Board of Health stating that it approved the development in general of Mrs. Eleanor Ross. The Conditional Approval Contract prepared by Mr. Stevens was Sub- mitted to Mrs. Ross who stated she wished to receive advice from Counsel be- fore signing. Since the 45 day period is up on November 25th, the Board agreed- to greedto hold a special meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 24th, to approve if she so de- sired. George Smith Mr. George E. Smith of 25 Grant St. appeared for informal discussion ret his plans for building a 3 -car garage and small building on land off Muzzey St. in rear of stores. The Board is interested in these plans since it is part of the land under consideration for a parking area. It was moved by Mr. Ripley, seconded by Mr. Jaquith and unanimously VOTED- that a study be made of a parking plan on land between Wal- tham St. and Muzzey St, with a view to having something definite to present at the next town meeting. Bill Bill presented bjr Local Planning Administration, book, $7.50. Unan- imously voted the bill be paid. Conroy Further discussion on naming of "Vaille Ave". Moved by Mr. Grindle, seconded by Mr. Hathaway, and unanimously VOTED: that the Planning Board's designation of the unaccepted wady between Bedford St. and Reed St. opposite Vaille Ave. by naw of "Vaille Ave.' is approved. aLbu Mr. Mortimer A. Seabury Jr., 12 Louisburg Sq., Boston and Mr. John Groden appeared for informal discussion re: proposed roadside hotel on. Bashian property, land between Marrett Rd., Rt. 128 and Massachusetts Ave. Mr. Seabury wishes to erect a high-class motel of approximately 24 units combined in a 2 -story building, attractive in appearance, beautifully landscaped, with park- ing in rear which would not be visible from streets. This would be beneficial to town from tax standpoint and would not be an expense as far as school child- ren are concerned. Would also plan to erect a few high-class houses on re- maining property. Mr. Adams explained that this would mean a zoning change and the proper ' procedure was explained. It was left for them to go ahead and prepare what they wish to ask for. Form A and tracing entitled "Plan of land in Lexington" dated September 28, 1951, Fred A. Joyce, presented by Mrs. Verdone. Moved by Mr. Grindle, seconded by Mr. Hathaway and unanimously voted the above plans be signed bearing the endorsement "Lexington Planning Board approval not required under subdivision control law." 1mb 0 Meeting adjourned at 11:25 o.'clock.
