After discussion it.was decided to send a letter to the Board of Appeals stating that the Planning Board was opposed to the granting of a variance to permit the operation of a funeral home at 1508 Massachusetts Ave., Lexington by William Graham because it felt that it would result in the.estab- lishment of anew commercial enterprise in an R-1 District; that there are other zones in which a funeral home can be operated without special permission and that there was no particular need for establishing a new one; and that it would add to an already hazardous traffic situation. Also decided to write a letter to the Board of Appeals stating that it opposed the petition of Elmer R. Anderson for permission to construct three greenhouses and fora variance to permit the erection of a.building for whole- sale and retail sales purposes because it would result in the establishment of a new and substantial commercial enterprise on land abutting Route 2 which has continuously been opposed in the past; also that it would create new and serious traffic problems on Route 2 for which there would be no immediate solution.
