of absence as chairman for the next four or- five weeks. As he had to
leave early, Mr. Irwin was elected temporary chairman for the evening.
Mr. Hathawatireported having talked with Mr. Perry Norton,
Executive Secretary ef Institute of Planners. The gist of the informa-
tion gathered is: planning course graduates today are specialists in
1: Economics, 2: Public Administration, 3: Civil Engineering, and 4:
Architecture in that order. It would, therefore, be difficult to get
a Planner-Engineer. Salary, $5500 - $6500 with 2-3 years experience.
Should have had experience in a growing community. Suggested adver-
tising in Institute News. State qualifications, references, and set
dead-line for receipt of applications.
Mr. Grindle contacted Dr. Isaacs at Harvard. Suggested five
names, two of whom were present for interview.
Mr. Zettek now working in Worcester on redevelopment project,
with home in Hopkinton, where he is secretary of the Planning Board.
Is now receiving $6500. Has Master's degree in City Planning from Har-
vard and has had some engineering experience but not much. Mr. Braun
of Newton with U.S. Government Housing and Home Finance Agency, New
England representative. Has Master's degree in City Planning from
M.I.T. Only experience in engineering comes from being in business for
himself in developing subdivisions and so is familiar with subdivision
rules, and what he had as course in school. Is now getting $6000.
The qualifications which the Board desired were explained to
both, and as both have submitted applications they will be considered
with others.
It was decided that Mr. Hathaway draw up an ad to be sent to
Institute News in Cambridge and American Society of Planning Officials,
1313 E. 60th St., Chicago after approved by other members of Planning
Board. Also a letter be drafted and a questionnaire for pertinent data
to be sent to applicants.
It was also decided that applications should be received and
screened before any more interviews are given.
Lexington Construction Co.
Mr. Newgent presented a letter asking four questions on which
he wished a definite answer to each. These have to do with waiving
restrictions on Robinson Hill in the event it is purchased by a corpor-
ation which will limit the building to 11 houses, and who will contract
never to ask town to put in betterments. A sketch was submitted as a
tentative plan. It was the feeling of the Board that no requirements
should be waived, but left for Mr. Stevens to decide.

Potter I
On application submitted by Mr. Potter dated May 15, 1954,
Land Case #18315, with plan for determination of Planning Board
approval under subdivision control law not required, it has been sug-
gested by Mr. Stevens that Mr. Potter be asked as to what he proposed
to do on lots 7-8 on said plan. If he intends adding #8 to Lot 5, 0.$.,
otherwise there would be no frontage and therefore would come under
the Planning Board jurisdiction. After discussion no action was taken
because the Board felt that further information in regard to the proposed
lots should be requested.
Meeting adjourned at 10:55 otclock.
