Monday, September 14,1953
Present: Adams, Grindle, Hathaway, Irwin, Potter, Ripley.
Meeting opened at 7-45 o'clock. Mr. R. Newton Mayall of Planning
& Research Associates was present, interested in town planning, particular-
ly parking problems And in conducting a parking survey either as a separate
unit or as part of general operation. Presented a parking survey for Town
of Brookline and stated they had also redesigned the Medford Shopping
Center. Would work as consultant by evening if desired. When asked how
long ahead plans should be made stated it was impractical to plan for
more than five years with present conditions. Suggested that in business
building it be required that parking land be added to building lot. Also
stated that a residential town should have enough business to absorb taxes.
The cost of a general survey might run about $10,000 altho it varies
according to how much information is readily available and how much inform-
ation is required.
Minute Man Highlands
Mr. James Carrig, Mr. Robert Carrig, and Mr. Nylander presented
plans for Section 4 of Minute Man Highlands for informal approval. Ap-
proved for tentative hearing on Monday, September 21 at 7:45 o'clock.
Mr. Carrig was given 6 copies of contract for Lincoln Terrace.
Some discussion followed re: new road. Since the road in Mr.
Carrig's new development is expected to set the pattern for the rest of
the road there was some question as to whether 60' would be sufficient.
It was agreed to have Mr. Burns ask Mr. Carrig for 701 instead of 60'.
Meeting adjourned at 10:20 o'clock.
Thomas S. Grindle,
Clerk
