HomeMy WebLinkAbout1953-08-17' PLANNING BOARD MEETING
Monday,August 17,1953
Present; Adams, Irwin, Ripley.
Meeting opened at 8 o'clock. Present was Mr. Aubrey H. Williams
of 9 Church Road, Newton, Sales Manager of Engineering Dept, of Platt
Construction Co., Cambridge, who are looking for suitable land for several
industrial developments, chiefly electronics and research. He spoke in
particular of 'tracer Lab of Boston, Vectron of Waltham, and Laboratory for
Electronics.
The buildings they have in mind are one story, well designed,
good looking, and would have plenty of hard topped parking space and land
scaping. Business is clean and quiet and help would be of better type,
about 50% trained engineers, 25% technicians, rest production employees.
Land along Route 128 offers ideal conditions. Believes the advantages
that would accrue to the town in the future would far outweigh any ex-
pense. Knows of at least half a dozen companies who would be interested
in this type of building. Mr. Williams will bring in definite plan with
definite area to show town meting if the Board thinks it would help
accomplish a change in zoning. It was the feeling of the Board that it
' was doubtful at present, altho being able to show something tangible
might very possibly make a difference.
Conservation of land was discussed, altho with only three members
of the Board present no definite decision was made.
Meeting adjourned at 9;30 o'clock.
Thomas S. Grindle,
Clerk
