HomeMy WebLinkAbout1953-04-06PLANNING BOARD M0TING ' Monday, April 6, 1953 Present: Adams, Grindle, Hathaway, Irwin, Ripley Meeting opened at 7:45 o'clock. Letter read from Mr. Stevens re: Universal Bni inn Corporation stating that he did not believe a subdivision could to turned down because of only one 'exit on a narrow street providing the grade and sight are not too extreme because an owner has a right to access to his property. Letter read from Board of Health stating that they believed the report from Whitman. & Howard to be adverse to cesspools and septic tanks in Robinson Hills development and that they therefore recommended connection tihe�sewer inasmuch as it was available. Moved by Mr. Hathaway, seconded by Mr. Ripley that this report be accepted and that in accordance with the principle that sewer connection be required in all developments where sewer is available, Robinson Hills development be required to connect Oith the sewer and that Mr. Newgent be so advised. Universal Building Corp. Two representatives from Universal Building Corp. together with Mr. Beauvais, Mr. Ferguson and Mr. Jaquith, interested citizens, appeared for Mr. Stevens' answer re: traffic hazard on Burlington St. Letter from Mr. Stevens mentioned above was read. Palermo Mr. Palermo appeared for decision on his plans submitted for tenta- tive approval for subdivision on Craig land on East street. The Board's recommendation is that since this street will eventually be a. through street the S curve be removed or modified. Robinson Hills Mr. Harvey Newgent appeared for answer to his Robinson Hills develop- ment. Letter from Board of Health mentioned above was read and the Board's decision given. Mr. Newgent was very much incensed and alleged that "&*, McQuillan told me he could not give an honest answer because he was in the middle between Mr. Burns and the Planning Board" - also: "It's a case of dirty rotten politics." Colonial Development Plans were presented by Mr. Robinson for signature by the Board. Wes informed they would be signed as soon as the bond was satisfactorily cwapleted.. New Roads Mr. Adams reported that Mr. Greer had agreed to give rights of way over their land for the proposed now road if it were moved a little further , north, which it was believed could be done. Also Mr. Couette had reported that he believed the Tower heirs would be agreeable so long as Dawes Road was not tied in; that Mr. Walker had no objection with regard to his land. Robinson Hills Mr. Kelly, Mr. Gray, Mr, and Mfrs. Rugy,•Mir. Hill and Mr. Cook appeared for informal discussion re: Robinson Hills development. Mfr. Selly as spokesman stated they feel that unless connection with the sewer is made there will be a drainage problem definitely affecting these abuttors; that the road would be over 10% grade; that they have rights of way and water rights which will interfere with the proposed road. Are desirous that Mr. Newgent has knowledge of these objections before he takes title. Walter Black Mfr. Walter Black presented plans dated April 27, 1937, registered in 1912, showing lots with insufficient area. Wished to know if extension of Sherburne road could be withdrawn to give more lot area. Decision was that nothing could be done in the way of withdrawal, Westgate Builders, Inc. It was decided to tell Mr. Sylvester that he should try and get together with Mr. TBisy to work out a way of connecting Crawford road. , Meeting adjourned at 10:15 o'clock. Thomas S. Grindle, Clerk 1
