PLANNING BOARD MEETING
Monday, January 5, 1953
Present; Adams, Hathaway, Irwin, Johnson, Potter.
Meeting opened at 7145 o'clock.
Articles for Warrant
The following articles are to be prepared for the warrant for town
meeting in March: Requests for zoning changes from residential to business
for John Baskin at corner of Waltham and Concord ave; Rafferty and Farley at
junction of Route 128 and Route 2 with entrance off Weston street; Peter
Zitso and Lexington Arts & Crafts, Waltham street; Mrs. Albert A. Ross at 419
Marrett road; recommendation for layout of street between Waltham and Muzzey
streets with parking area on ,both sides; for street from point on Bedford
street opposite Fire Station to corner of Lincoln at, and Mass. avenue.
Chamber of Commerce
Meeting adjourned to Selectmen's room for further discussion of park-
ing problem with Selectmen and Committee from Chamber of Commerce, Present
from Chamber of Commerce were Harold Michelson, Peter Oppenheim, Charles
Allen, Frank Ready, and Lee Tarbox, Mr. Nickerson announced that he had
written Mr. Ballard but had not as yet received a reply. Discussion was
held as to the merits of both Edison Way and the area between Waltham and
Muzzey streets, with the conclusion being that there were so many involve-
ments in the Edison Way project that it might be better to proceed with the
Waltham street area for the present with the stipulation that if any build-
ing were done on this business area it would be necessary to have two-for-
one parking facilities.
Bowsell - Bertin
Mr. Rowsell and Mr. Bertini appeared with question re changing of
zone on property adjoining Arlington line between brook and railroad in
back of Simonds Pontiac property. Area is in industrial zone on Arlington
side. Was advised bf the proper procedure for changing zone.
Lexington Construction Co.
Mr. Harvey Newgent appeared with preliminary layout of Robinson
Hills, area opposite Lexington Golf Club and Hill street. Plans were taken
under advisement.
