Present: Adams, Hathaway, Irwin, Johnson, Potter.
Meeting opened at 7t45 o'clock.
Bill
Bill presented by Adams Press, advertising hearing Degriss Construc-
tion Co., Nov. 20 and 27, $6.26. Unanimously voted the bill be paid.
Proposed New Road
Mr. Burns presented plans from Whitman & Howard showing proposed n,sw
road from Pleasant Street at Concord Pike to corner Lincoln Street and
Massachusetts Avenue. This road goes through land not at present built upon
and would serve to drain traffic from several built-up areas thus relieving
Massachusetts Avenue and routing traffic around Center. Also shown was plan
of road from Lincoln Street and Massachusetts Avenue to Bedford Street to
point opposite Fire Station, The B and was very favorably impressed with
both plans. Mr. Potter moved, Mr. Johnson seconded, that these plans be
approved in principle and that more study be given immediately as part of a
long range planning. So voted. It was felt that options should be acquired
on this land as soon as possible as otherwise it would probably be built
upon in the near future.
Selectmen
Meeting adjourned to the Selectmen's office. Discussion was first
held on the parking situation. The Board of Selectmen were in accord with
the plans of the Planning Board as submitted, and will get in touch with Mr.
Ballard that both Boards may meet and jointly draw up an article for the
Tom Meeting in March.
The whitman & Howard road plans were then shown the Selectmen, it be-
ing necessary to have "an intent to lay out" before anything 'dhdi.nite can be
done. The Selectmen were also favorably impressed with these plans and Mr.
Nickerson stated that they were in accord and would go along wholeheartedly.
