Monday, April 28, 1952
Present: Adams, Hathaway, Irwin, Johnson, Potter, Ripley.
Meeting opened at 7:45 p.m.
Bills
Bills were presented as follows: Rita McNamara, typing agreements.,
X12.00; Adams Press, advertising two hearings, $6.26; Louise M. Baker,
secretarial service April, $1.5.00. Unanimously voted the bills be paid.
In view of the increased amount of business now coning before the
Planning Board it was decided to hold subdivision hearings on -Monday even,
ings as usual and regular Planidng Board meetings on alternate Tuesday
evenings.
Mr. Adams announced that enough bids had been received to take care
of the emergency housing situation for the present, and that the building
would not take place in Lexington but in neighboring towns.
Hearing - Carrig
Public hearing was held on petition of Jams A. Carrig for approval
as a subdivision property known as Minute Man Golf Course located on
southerly side of Cambridge -Concord highway. About 20 citizens appeared.
Mr. Fletcher of Moon Hill road spoke favoring more neighborhood planning,
with common play areas and plantings between the settlement and the4tigh-
way. Mr. Hugh Stebbins., -103 Pleasant Street; Mr. Richard Morehouse$ *&On
Hill road; Mrs. Thompson, Moon Hill road; and Mr. Fletcher Ashley, Moon
Hill road all agreed with Mr. Fletcher. Mr. Corazzini as an abettor
wished to know what type houses would be built and was told they would
consist of Cape Cod, Colonial, and ranch type, Mr. Donald Clarke asked
what assurance there would be that the buildings would be of this type and
Mr. Carrig stated that all house plans must have his personal approval be-
fore being built. Mr. Goldman of Pleasant street suggested that models
be built of future developments in order that citizens might visualize the
proposed development.
Plans were taken under advisement.
Hearing - Lexington onstruction Co.
Public hearing was held on petition of Mr. Harvey Newgent for
' approval to extend Patterson road northerly to a distance of approximately
600 feet. No objectors appeared and plans were taken under advisement.
Hatch's Pond '
14r. Eames, Mr. Baldwin, and Kr. Stevens of Briggs road appeared
with complaint that Mr. Cadario had lifted concrete slab at outlet of
Hatch's Pond and put in flash board which had raised the water above
swm er level with consequent flooding of their cellars. fir. Burns to look
into the matter.
Wood Street Traffic
Five citizens of Wood street, Mr. Robert Johnson as spokesman, com-
plained of the greatly increased traffic on Wood street, particularly at
8 aim. and 5 p,m. They wished to know if there were any solution to this
problem and were advised that at the present time there was none.
Pleasant Associates
Mr. Small of Pleasant Associates appeared with bis plan which had
been approved subject to correction of drainage. Wished to know if the
Board had any solution as he could think of nothing further that could'be
done. No conclusion was reached.
