mon Gear Co.
Mr. Sayce representing Union Gear Co. appeared for discussion rela-
tive to the possible site for a new plant which would require a change in
zone to an M-1 district. Mr. Sayoe stated that the plant would be a very
desirable one as to appearance, source of tax income, and local employment.
The company does light manufacturing in which no objectionable noise, odor,
smoke, or other features were involved. Is particularly interested in the
land at junction of Route 128 and 2-A, westerly side of highway. Was advised
to contact owner, Mr. Bashian, from whom petition must come unless an option
is obtained first, and then go through the regular procedure of changing the
By-laws.
The Board, discussing the matter later, felt this would be a desirable
set-up, and that the time had come when the town should accept some such
businesses in order to keep the tax rate as low as possible.
Meeting adjourned at los15 o'clock until Monday.. April 28.
