' Presents Adams, Caouette, Irwin, Johnson, Potter, Ripley.
Meeting opened at 7s45 p.m.
Bill presented by Louise L4. Baker, secretarial service Jan. 10 and 24,
$10-00. Unanimously voted the bill be paid.
n
Letter read from Mrs. Edith M. Boyd of Bedford street requesting
change from residence zone to business. Decided to write her a letter stat-
ing that it was the plan of the Board to study the whole area in the near
future, and as it was too late for this town warrant the Board would insti-
tute the change later.
Letter read from A & P confirming their request for Johnson land for
store, with or without additional Gibson property, but would prefer to have
the latter also. Mr. Johnson asked if the area designated for signatures
could be cut as it included so many property owners. However, after discus-
sion it was decided to leave the area as originally decided upon.
' McLaughlin
Mr. Charles Mclaughlin and Mr. Leon Comeau appeared with request for
tentative approval of layout on Wood street, plan same as that presented pre-
viously except that a cul-de-sac had been provided at a dead-end street. No
criticisms and plan taken under advisement.
Bpard of Assessors
The Board of Assessors, comprised of William Burnham, Leland Emery,
Neal Cronin, and Edward Cass appeared for informal discussion of taxes on
y parking areas. It is the feeling of the Planning Board that those property
owners of back land who are willing to spend money to improve the land for
free public parking should not be penalized by having their taxes raised. The
Board of Assessors feel that when the land is improved it becomes more valuable
and that it would rather see the town build parking areas than to set up false
assessments. However, they are willing to give careful consideration to the
matter in order to try and find some solution, and have asked the Planning
Board to give them pertinent data.
