Presents Adams, Caouette, Irwin, Johnson, Potter, Ripley.
Meeting opened at 700 p.m.
Discussion on matter of combining front and back lots to make re-
quired frontage on accepted street in order to build on back Late - property
of Desimone, and Silva. Decided that as a matter of principle the Board did
not object.

Letter from Mr. Daniel Lynch res Carrig proposed development - Minute
Ban Center - asking that petition previously received requesting change from
R-1 to C-2 district be changed to read "Change from R-1 to C-1 zone." The
Board agree to comply with this request. Area affected designated fib Route 2
easterly to Arlington line, westerly to Pleasant Street; Pleasant Street be-
tween junction of Watertown Street and Route 2; %tertowa Street from Pleasant
Street to Belmont line; all streets mentioned to include abuttors both sides
and all land within those boundaries. Also Towns of Arlington and Belmont to
be notified.
Discussion on problem of housing arising from expansion of Air Base and
new research laboratory. Will bring in about 5000 employees and will be on a
basis of 15-25 years at least. Unless the problem can be worked out quickly .
it will result in this area being designated as critical and Federal housing
which is non-taxable. It was suggested the problem be studied with the idea
of finding suitable areas for A-1 districts and that areas near the Base be
studied for quick development so they can be confined to that locality.

It was voted to mrite the Chamber of Commerce that the Board favors a
parking space in lots adjoining the Library.
