PLANNING BOARD MEETING
Monday, January 8,1951
Presents Cromwell, Adams, Caouette, Potter, Ripley
Meeting opened at 7:40 p.m.
.SS va
Mr.Silva appeared and asked that the Board reconsider its decision
that he must conform to the new zoning by-laws with respect to frontage.
He was advised that altho the Board would like to do so, it did not see
any way in which it could be done legally but to leave the plans and the
matter would be taken up with Town Counsel.
Recreation Committee
Five members of the Recreation Committee with DGr.Howard Pbley as
spokesman appeared with proposed sites of land for play areas to be lo-
cated on the west side of town for which they would like approval of the
Planning Board. One site is on Grassland street between Waltham and Spring
streets, another on corner of Spring and Shade streets, another on Cary
Estate. While this is not strictly within the province of the Board, it
can approve sites and lend their moral support which they agree to do. The
Board believes that the Committee should go ahead and acquire land now for
such purposes before the town grows any more. The Simeone development on
Maple street was suggested as an area worth looking into, also the Newgent
land on Wood street.
Seton
The Board feels that there should be something in the Towns Warrant
saying it recommends the Sexton land be acquired by the Town for future
town purposes, possibly a police station. Mr.Cromwell to contact the Se-
lectmen regarding this.
Caryl Realty
The clerk was requested to write to Mr.Cadario asking that he be
present at the next Board meeting to discuss the Hatch Pond situation.
Date of meeting Monday January 15.
RM
It was decided to ask Mr.Burns to draw a plan of Mr.Lima's property
at the corner of Waltham street and Old Concord avenue that an article
might be inserted in the warrant putting the area back in C-1 zone.
Lillian Parks
' letter received from Lillian Parks requesting that her land on Cure
Street be put back in business zone. Glerk instructed to write a letter
stating that hearings have been held and as there were no objections the ,
town has opted to take this property out of the business area. Only relief
is to bring in a petition to be heard at a town meeting.
Extension of Streets
Mr.Burns is requested to prepare the necessary material to insert
an article in the warrant asking for an extension of Bernard street through
to Grove street, and of Grassland through to Waltham street.
