I
December 10, 1946
Present: Messrs. Worthen, Nickerson, Ferguson, Richards
and Houdlette.
Boulder Road
Letter received from Johnson, Clapp, Ives and Knight
was examined, relative to relocation of Boulder Road, and
also earlier documents (1944), at which time the Board had
voted in favor of relocating this paper street in order to
provide proper setback for house improperly located and re-
adjustment of the property lines. No subdivision is
involved.
It was voted to write Pyr. Frederick, of the above
firm, that the Planning Board approves petitioning by Mr.
Cerpenter (the owner) to the Board of Survey for the
relocation of this road as shown on plan dated October 14,
19419 E. M. Brooks, C. E., indicating Block 10 of "Manorwoo d".
so called, at junction of Boulder Road and Blake Road.
Veterans' Housing Project
' Mr. Couette appeared before the Board on behalf of the
project committee to discuss the development layout previously
examined and not approved by the Planning Board. The plan
shows a total of 54 lots, of which some 20 have frontages on
Cedar and Hill Streets.
The Board re -stated its objections to this plan; namely,
the excessive length of street construction, partially
necessitated by the utilization of the back land which is low
and undesirable for lotting, and the location of egress street
at the junction of Hill and Cedar Streets.
Mr. Couette appealed to the Planning Board for cooperation
and assistance in re -planning the entire area.
It was voted to delegate to Mr. Houdlette the responsi-
bility of continuing the re -study of the plan; this work to
be done under his direction and by outside engineering assist-
ance, and for this work it was voted to appropriate a sum of
money not to exceed $50.
Medical Center
Mr. Couette requested, informally, the Board's reaction
to the establishment of a medical -center in Lexington, a
subject which was considered in a general way by the Board
several years ago. Mr. Couette made reference to a specific
site; the Ballard property on Massachusetts Avenue (near the
' Catholic church), which has a 215 foot frontage and comprises
2 1/2 acres, with the large dwelling. He stated there was
sentiment in favor of a project which would offer 24-hour
service through the joint use of specialized equipment '
by several doctors, and that it was proposed to alter the
present house considerably.
The Board advised Petr. Couette that this is a Board
of Appeals case, and that the apparent inclusion of dentists
would result in much controversy. The Board further stated,
informally, that it felt that'a medical center would fill
a need of the town - without referring to or committing
itself to a specific location or plan.
Stenographic Work
Inasmuch as the Board at present has no clerk for
typing it was voted to approach Mr, Cromwell for the typing
of budget forms and annual report, the work to be done at
his office, and compensation to be paid by the Planning Board.
Respectfully submitted,
Acting Clerk
