MEETING OF PLANNING BOARD
May 21, 1945

and Cromwell,
Rapid Transit
The Board considered the rapid transit problem and con-
cluded in various points: (1) The Board favors extension of
raid transit to Lexington: (2) It does not f avor recommending
opposition to passage of the act creating a rapid transit authority:
(3) The plan of rapid transit prepared by the Legislative Committee
has important shortcomings as far as Lexington is concerned:
(4) Efforts should be made to enforce more strictly the zoning and
building by-laws,
Mr. Houdlette brought a map to the meeting on which he
had indicated a possible route for the rapid transit line via
Somerville Junction. The Board after considering this map and
Mr. Houdlette's remarks concluded that the Somerville Junction
route deserved further consideration.
The Board considered a plan prepared by Mr. Blackwell
for modifying the plan of the Legislative Committee and concluded
that it deserved further consideration.
Mr. Cromwell was asked to summarize the Board's v;Uaww-
point in a report to be given the Selectmen on May 25.
