He left the plan with the Board and this is now in the files marked "received from Mr. Houdlette June 26, 1944." The state plans to start construction this year from Marrett Road to the intersection of Wood Street and Jankowski Road in Bedford. In addition to the above the state has plans for a second road to parallel the first so as to permit movement north on the first road and'wouth on the second. The second would be built when and if conditions warrant. The Planning Board expressed their general approval of the layout except in regard to the plans under rich traffic between Concord and Lexington on Massachusetts Avenue would enter the new road, follow<it a few hundred yards and leave it again. ' The new road would be a high speed limited access highway and as a result of the state's layout the slow moving local traffic would be temporarily mingled with the high speed through traffic. Specifically the.Planning Board recommended to Mr. Houdlette that the plan be modified to separate Massachusetts Avenue and the 11hited way so that it would not be necessary for local traffic to mingle with that on the limited way except as such traffic desired to do so. This would involve underpasses for Massachusetts Avenue but would obviate a wide separation of the parallel new roads as planned near the intersection. Mr. Houdlette apparently considered the Planning Board's recommendation a reasonable one. County Road The county is projecting a new road to cross the Lincoln - Bedford line and run in a northerly direction to the airport. This will involve certain problems of intersection to be considered later. Fire Station Mr. Ferguson was appointed to represent the Planning Board ' at a meeting of the Selectmen and Fire Engineers on June 30. Street Sims It was decided to meet early Wednesday evening, July 12, to view street signs with the intention of making a report to the Selectmen.
